This is definitely not normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Starting this weekend, various radiological assessments will be conducted across the school\u2019s 28-acre campus, including the testing of indoor air samples for radon.<\/p>\n<p>Lupiano was diagnosed with a brain tumor back in the late 1990s, at the age of 27. He went on to recover from the disease. <\/p>\n<p>Last year, his wife \u2014 who also attended Colonia \u2014 \u00a0was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. Lupiano has reached out to the state Department of Health, Department of Environmental Protection and the federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry for help \u2014 which is reportedly still in the \u201cearly stages.\u201d<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Colonia High School<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In less than six weeks, Lupiano says he has gathered the names of 94 people connected with the school who have developed brain tumors. <\/p>\n<p>The disturbing development became headline <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> this week after <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/former-woodbridge-n-j-resident-confirms-65-people-who-either-attended-or-worked-at-colonia-high-school-have-had-rare-brain-tumors\/\">CBS News took it national<\/a>. A subsequent TikTok video <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@drjoe_md\/video\/7085859295929060650?is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1\">discussing the medical mystery<\/a> has also racked up more than 2.2 million viral views in just 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The vast majority of those who have developed brain tumors \u201cgraduated between 1975 and 2000, although outliers have come as recently as a 2014 graduate,\u201d according to the Star Ledger.<\/p>\n<p>The diagnoses include \u201cseveral types of primary brain tumors, including cancerous forms like glioblastoma and noncancerous yet debilitating masses such as acoustic neuromas, haemangioblastomas and meningiomas.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p>\u201cTo find something like this \u2026 is a significant discovery,\u201d Dr. Sumul Raval, one of New Jersey\u2019s top neuro-oncologists, told the outlet. \u201cNormally speaking, you don\u2019t get radiation in a high school . . . unless something is going on in that area that we don\u2019t know,\u201d Raval added, calling for an immediate investigation. <\/p>\n<p>The viral TikTok video discussing the purported cancer cluster was posted Wednesday by popular personality, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@drjoe_md\">Dr. Joe Whittington. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Whittington \u2014 a board-certified MD in California \u2014 claimed several of the brain tumors developed by ex-Colonia High staff and students are glioblastoma multiforme \u2014 an aggressive cancer which spreads to brain tissue. <\/p>\n<p>While the exact number of former faculty and staff diagnosed with glioblastoma is not  precisely known, the cancer is exceedingly rare. According to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aans.org\/en\/Patients\/Neurosurgical-Conditions-and-Treatments\/Glioblastoma-Multiforme#:~:text=Prevalence%20and%20Incidence&amp;text=Glioblastoma%20has%20an%20incidence%20of,17%25%20in%20the%20second%20year.\">American Association of Neurological Surgeons<\/a>, glioblastoma has an incidence of\u00a03.21 per 100,000. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the TikTok video sparked panic and a range of conspiracy-theory style comments, with people claiming mold, toxic waste, asbestos and nearby cellphone towers could all be causing the cluster.  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Former Woodbridge Township resident confirms 65 rare brain tumors linking to local high school\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vTYXmD6h0x4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Lupiano also spoke with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/former-woodbridge-n-j-resident-confirms-65-people-who-either-attended-or-worked-at-colonia-high-school-have-had-rare-brain-tumors\/\">CBS News <\/a>on Thursday, saying he now believes ionizing radiation must be responsible for the health issues. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I find alarming is there\u2019s truly only one environmental link to primary brain tumors, and that\u2019s ionizing radiation,\u201d he declared. \u201cIt\u2019s not contaminated water. It\u2019s not air. It\u2019s not something in soil.
