But unlike <em>Abbott<\/em>, the HBO Max pirate parody has yet to be renewed for a second season. It\u2019s stumping creator and showrunner David Jenkins and star Taika Waititi as much as the rest of us. In a new interview, Jenkins and Waititi commented on <em>Our Flag Means Death<\/em> Season 2\u2019s delayed renewal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know anything,\u201d Waititi told the<em> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/tv\/story\/2022-04-12\/our-flag-means-death-taika-waititi-david-jenkins-hbo-max\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em>. \u201cI just think that they should because it makes sense. Also, I need to know what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens next. [<em>Laughs<\/em>]\u201d SAME, Taika. <em>Same<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a rough one to not pick up on after what happened at the end of it,\u201d said Jenkins of the March 24 Season 1 finale, which very much sets itself up for another season. \u201cIt\u2019s a particularly rough one. I hope they figure it out. I hope they want to do more. I know everyone in the show wants to. Just to go on [<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a>] and see it trend for like two weeks feels unreal. It\u2019s so gratifying, even not knowing if you\u2019re renewed, to see that people liked it that much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waititi stars as legendary pirate Blackbeard opposite Rhys Darby\u2018s, well, not as legendary but extremely lovable captain Stede Bonnet. The two fall in love over the course of Season 1, making for one of the most heartwarming comedies currently on TV. And like Jenkins said, the internet fervor over the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> only continues to grow. In fact, Parrot Analytics data reveals <em>Our Flag<\/em> is more popular than <em>Moon Knight<\/em> and every other HBO title on the streaming service.<\/p>\n<p>Parrot Analytics releases a weekly content series tracking breakout shows via <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/top-new-shows-hbo-max-our-flag-means-death-disney-plus-moon-knight\/\">The Wrap<\/a>.<\/em> It defines breakout shows as \u201cthe most in-demand series that have premiered in the past 100 days.\u201d It doesn\u2019t track viewership like Nielsen; rather, it measures audience demand, interest, and engagement.<\/p>\n<p>Scroll through any social media platform (TikTok and Twitter, in particular) and it won\u2019t take long to find something related to the series. It has inspired fan cam video edits, cosplaying videos, fan art, and more. The actor who plays Jim, Vico Ortiz, has also become a popular TikTok personality thanks to the show.<\/p>\n<p>Parrot\u2019s analysis shows how much the social media engagement has impacted the success of <em>Our Flag<\/em>. Without having released a new episode in weeks, it not only stayed at No. 1 for the third week in a row, but grew its demand. <em>Moon Knight<\/em>, currently halfway through its debut season, substantially grew in demand by 64 percent. But it still couldn\u2019t knock the period comedy out of its top spot.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Week 2. Another Parrot analysis revealed the comedy\u2019s rise is most comparable to <em>Ted Lasso<\/em>. It has a 42.8 percent higher demand than the Apple TV+ comedy did for Season 1, and viewers will recall just how much of a sleeper hit the Jason Sudeikis comedy was.<\/p>\n<p>Nielsen\u2019s TV ratings for the end of March have not yet been released. But it\u2019s hard to imagine its online popularity not translating to high viewership. <em>Our Flag <\/em>also has the potential to be an Emmy contender. And by all accounts, Waititi, Jenkins, and the rest of the cast are ready to get started on Season 2.<\/p>\n<p>HBO Max, what\u2019s the hold up?!
