Here\u2019s how to do it.<\/p>\n<p>In Windows 10 or Windows 11, you can capture screenshots to a file using Windows+Print Screen. When you do so, Windows saves the shots automatically a special \u201cScreenshots\u201d folder, which is linked by default to to <code>C:\\Users\\[User Name]\\Pictures\\Screenshots<\/code> . However, it\u2019s fairly easy to change this link so that these screenshots save to a different location (even on another drive or in a Dropbox folder, for example).<\/p>\n<p>To get started, first open File Explorer by pressing Windows+E on your keyboard. Or click the \u201cMove\u201d button, and you can browse to the new location using the \u201cSelect a Destination\u201d window.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_tip\"><p><strong>Tip:<\/strong> You can save screenshots anywhere, including another drive, a cloud service, or a network share. But we recommend against using another special system folder like the desktop, because Windows will make the change permanent, and it even warns you that it can\u2019t be undone. For example, if you want your screenshots to be easily accessible from your desktop, you might want to save them to a folder named \u201cScreenshots\u201d on your desktop rather than your desktop itself.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-797278\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/move_screenshots.jpg?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"311\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>When you find the location you want to use, click the \u201cSelect Folder\u201d button, then confirm your changes by clicking \u201cOK\u201d in the Screenshot Properties window. If Windows asks if you want to move existing screenshot files to the new location, click \u201cYes\u201d or \u201cNo\u201d depending on your preference.<\/p>\n<p>The next time you take a screenshot using Windows+Print Screen, the file will be automatically saved in the new location.
