Even though he lost Mullins, which wasn\u2019t ideal, I knew he\u2019d be fine mentally and emotionally to bounce back. Obviously, he got a big out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But with the Yankees relying so heavily on their bullpen through the first nine games of the season, they likely will need to add an arm for Sunday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> finale against Baltimore.<\/p>\n<p>Sears ended up pitching a scoreless inning before Michael King escaped a bases-loaded jam, as well, when he struck out Jorge Mateo in the sixth.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"701\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/JP-Sears-3.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"JP Sears\" class=\"wp-image-21933082\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/JP-Sears-3.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=2048 2048w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/JP-Sears-3.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1536 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/JP-Sears-3.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/JP-Sears-3.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>JP Sears<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<p>The bullpen threw 5 \u00b9\/\u2083 scoreless innings in relief of Jameson Taillon, who came back out to pitch the fifth after a 49-minute rain delay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel comfortable handing the ball off to any of the 11 guys down there,\u2019\u2019 Taillon said, noting the bullpen\u2019s depth.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<p>Aroldis Chapman\u2019s first pitch Friday night was an un-Chapman-like 93 mph, but pitching coach Matt Blake noted the Yankees closer later got his velocity up to 99 mph as the 11th inning progressed.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Blake attributed the reduced velocity in part to the fact Chapman entered the game against the Orioles with the bases loaded, leaving no margin for error.<\/p>\n<p>He was also coming off a disastrous outing in The Bronx against the Blue Jays, when Chapman walked all three batters he faced before being removed in the ninth inning and replaced by Michael King, who finished the game and earned his first career save.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike on Thursday, Chapman\u2019s fastball command was good on Friday, but he still went with his slider for both the 2-2 and 3-2 pitches to Urias. They missed \u2014 barely \u2014 and the Yankees lost.<\/p>\n<p>Boone, though, said he was encouraged by the outing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought his stuff was good,\u201d Boone said before Saturday\u2019s game against Baltimore at Camden Yards. \u201cEven the fastball. It was in the 94-98 [mph] range. I thought his stuff was pretty crisp and he threw the ball well.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Boone said \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be an issue,\u201d when asked about the possibility that two players might not be able to play in Toronto due to not being vaccinated, which The Post reported on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The manager didn\u2019t elaborate, adding only: \u201cI don\u2019t have anything to say on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But there has been concern about fulfilling Canada\u2019s requirement that people must be vaccinated at least 14 days before entry into the country in order to play games there.<\/p>\n<p>The rules already have impacted Oakland, as three A\u2019s players \u2014 pitchers AJ Puk and Kirby Snead and catcher Austin Allen \u2014 were placed on the restricted list before the series began on Friday, leaving them ineligible to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear in the series.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<p>Marwin Gonzalez made two good defensive plays to his right when he took over at shortstop in Friday\u2019s loss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe big thing was seeing him move around, which we also saw at shortstop in spring,\u2019\u2019 Boone said of the utility player, who could be used as a backup shortstop instead of Gleyber Torres when Isiah Kiner-Falefa is unavailable.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Kiner-Falefa was out of the game after being pinch-hit for by Aaron Judge and Boone sounded willing to use Gonzalez there again in a similar situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe made two really good plays, backhand, fairly easily,\u2019\u2019 Boone said. \u201cI\u2019m encouraged with where I think he\u2019s at.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<p>Aaron Hicks batted leadoff on Saturday night. Boone said he has liked what he\u2019s seen from the outfielder after coming back from last year\u2019s wrist surgery. He went 2-for-3 with a walk and a scored run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s been pretty good so far,\u2019\u2019 Boone said. \u201cHe\u2019s getting his hits and getting on base.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And of Joey Gallo, Boone said, \u201cHe\u2019s been a little bit unlucky. The quality of contact has been good.
