Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>, claimed that managers at TikTok would frequently ask employees to hop on meetings during weekends in addition to working after hours, according to Business Insider.<\/p>\n<p>Martinez, who said he previously had worked for three years at <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>\u2019s parent company, Meta, said he quit earlier this year after joining the Chinese-owned company last February, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do\u00a0think that the culture of working too much or not having as much of the work-life balance does permeate throughout the organization, and it is often encouraged you work \u2018after hours\u2019,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/ex-tiktok-employee-described-experiencing-996-culture-secrecy-2022-4\">he told Insider<\/a>. \u201cThe 996 policy\u2019s infamous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The numbers \u201c996\u201d refer to business practices in China, where workers are expected to start at 9 a.m. and end at 9 p.m. six days per week.<\/p>\n<p>A source at TikTok told The Post that the company does not institute a culture of \u201c996\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Late last year, TikTok\u2019s parent company, ByteDance, scaled back working hours, telling employees they were expected to clock in at 10 a.m. and finish at 7 p.m. The work week would be limited to Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, employees reported that they were still required to log in to meetings at odd hours because of the time difference between the company\u2019s US-based operations and its headquarters in Beijing.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/tiktok-50.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Pabel Martinez said that TikTok forces employees to attend meetings on weekends.\" class=\"wp-image-21940197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/tiktok-50.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/tiktok-50.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/tiktok-50.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Pabel Martinez said TikTok forces employees to attend meetings on weekends.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">SOPA Images\/LightRocket via Gett<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Martinez said that when he objected to being forced to attend meetings on Saturdays and Sundays, he was told: \u201cThat\u2019s not how we do business here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said he was also reprimanded when he publicly shared his $220,000 annual wage on LinkedIn as part of \u201cLatina Equal Pay Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martinez said he felt pressured from stringent, bi-monthly revenue and growth targets as well as 360-degree performance reviews.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was made to feel like I was never doing enough,\u201d Martinez told Insider.\u00a0\u201cAt TikTok, no conversation started with \u2018How are you?\u2019 It was like, \u2018How\u2019s the revenue?
