The unexpected decline slammed the company\u2019s revenue growth projections and led to a nearly 25% plunge in Netflix\u2019s shares in after-hours trading Tuesday.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       But executives see an easy avenue to get up to 100 million new subscribers: Cutting off password sharing. In a letter to shareholders, executives estimated that many households are using the service without paying for it, by signing in under accounts of its 221.6 million paying subscribers, and that they hope to \u201creaccelerate\u201d revenue growth \u201cthrough improvements to our service and more effective monetization of multi-household sharing.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Executives described cutting off password sharing as \u201ca big opportunity\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/s22.q4cdn.com\/959853165\/files\/doc_financials\/2022\/q1\/FINAL-Q1-22-Shareholder-Letter.pdf\" class=\"icon none\">in the shareholder letter<\/a>, because \u201cthese households are already watching Netflix and enjoying our service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>We told you so: Your streaming sub<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ions reshaped Disney and turbocharged Netflix \u2014 now comes making more money off you<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tests of how to cut off the ability to share passwords have already begun. In March, the company said it started two new paid-sharing features, where current members have the choice of paying for additional households, in three markets in Latin America.  Executives did not offer any explanation in the letter on how they would verify accounts, but one tactic would likely be based on IP addresses and requiring users to log in with verification codes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we won\u2019t be able to monetize all of it right now, we believe it\u2019s a large short- to mid-term opportunity,\u201d the company said.  \u201cAs we work to monetize sharing, growth in ARM (average revenue per membership), revenue and viewing will become more important indicators of our success than membership growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Netflix recently increased its prices in the U.S. and Canada, its most mature markets, and executives said nearly a third of the password sharers \u2014 roughly 30 million \u2014 are in that region. Executives also said that long-term growth is going to come from markets outside the U.S., and that their goal is to sustain double-digit revenue growth.<\/p>\n<p>MarketWatch has warned investors repeatedly that judging Netflix by subscriber growth was a fool\u2019s errand as the service got larger and faced greater competition from well-funded competitors such as Apple Inc.<br \/>\n        AAPL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202934861\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.41%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Walt Disney Co.<br \/>\n        DIS,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203410047\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+3.23%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Amazon.com Inc.<br \/>\n        AMZN,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210331248\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+3.49%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n      \u00a0Warner Bros. Discovery<br \/>\n        WBD,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200511275\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.37%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n      \u00a0Comcast Corp.<br \/>\n        CMCSA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209472081\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+2.67%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Paramount Global<br \/>\n        PARA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200340870\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.86%<\/bg-quote><span>.<\/span><br \/>\n       But now that competition has eroded the revenue growth that Netflix had enjoyed for years, executives are going to have to make moves that will anger some consumers used to receiving the service for free. <\/p>\n<p>Investors were waiting for more details from executives\u2019 video interview with J.P.
