The controls feel fluid and extremely similar to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Xbox-Core-Controller-Robot-White-one\/dp\/B08DF26MXW?ref_=ast_sto_dp&amp;th=1&amp;psc=1&amp;tag=reviewgeekreviews-20\">Xbox Wireless Controller<\/a> you may be used to. While I wasn\u2019t able to play at the competitive level I\u2019m used to with my <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Xbox-S\/dp\/B08G9J44ZN?th=1&amp;tag=reviewgeekreviews-20\">Xbox Series S<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/763911\/best-65-inch-tv\/\">65-inch TV<\/a> at first, I was able to pick up a few online wins in some of my favorite action-packed titles like <em>Killer Instinct<\/em> and <em>Dead by Daylight<\/em> right out of the box.<\/p>\n<p>The controls are as comfortable as a classic Xbox controller overall, but fans of shooters like <em>Halo Infinite<\/em>, <em>Gears of War 5<\/em>, and <em>Perfect Dark<\/em> may notice that the Backbone\u2019s left and right shoulder triggers are a little squishier than they\u2019re used to.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s true that you won\u2019t get the satisfying miniature click of shortened trigger locks as featured in pricier pro controllers, and the Backbone One admittedly has a signature marshmallow-like squishiness to its triggers, but the triggers are more than responsive enough for solo and co-op shooters. I personally believe that with a bit of practice, you could take the Backbone One and cloud gaming combo to high heights on the Xbox Live leaderboards.<\/p>\n<p>It may be because I have an excellent internet connection in my office, but I noted that both fast-paced multiplayer experiences and laidback single-player games like <em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em> and <em>Jetpac Refuelled<\/em>\u00a0felt just as smooth and responsive when testing Xbox Cloud Gaming with the Backbone.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll take to this Backbone controller like a fish to water if you play a lot of Xbox, but the one awkward change that may take some getting used to is the placement of the Menu and View buttons. This is far from a deal-breaker, and since the space where these two critical buttons would be is now filled by your iPhone, it\u2019s clear that Backbone was forced to put them somewhere else.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019ll take a few run-throughs to get over your muscle memory and relearn how to pause and start your games, but the Backbone is an otherwise all-around quality mobile option for Xbox players.<\/p>\n<p>Another thing to note, just as you can <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/727183\/how-to-pair-the-xbox-wireless-controller-with-an-iphone-or-ipad\/\">connect a Wireless Xbox controller to your iPhone<\/a>, you can also <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=204a528a336ede4177fff0d84a044482&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fhelp.playbackbone.com%2Fhc%2Fen-us%2Farticles%2F4413358384151-How-do-I-use-the-Play-On-Any-Screen-feature-\">connect a Backbone controller to your Mac or PC<\/a> with the help of a Lightning to USB cable. The setup isn\u2019t the most ideal, but if you don\u2019t want to own multiple controllers, this solution might be best for you.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Large_Selection_but_Some_Games_Are_Missing\"><\/span>Large Selection, but Some Games Are Missing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=204a528a336ede4177fff0d84a044482&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fplaybackbone.com%2Fproducts%2Fbackbone-one%2F\">Backbone One<\/a> is compatible with over 900 games on the Apple <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/app-store\/\">App Store<\/a>, but as mentioned above, you will still want to take a minute to double-check Backbone\u2019s game list and ensure that your favorite titles will work with the controller.<\/p>\n<p>Despite plenty of well-known App Store games like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/among-us\/id1351168404\"><em>Among Us<\/em><\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/vectorman-classic\/id1176426500?uo=4\"><em>VectorMan Classic<\/em><\/a> working perfectly, mobile gamers who get a Backbone One without doing their research might be gravely disappointed that titles like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/dead-by-daylight-mobile\/id1452289752\"><em>Dead by Daylight Mobile<\/em><\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/pok%C3%A9mon-unite\/id1512321575\"><em>Pok\u00e9mon Unite<\/em><\/a> are partially or completely unplayable with this controller.
