The project touts that it can operate smart contracts 5 to 500X cheaper than Ethereum&#8217;s Layer 1. <\/p>\n<p>According to DeFiLlama, the platform currently accounts for $496.47 million worth of total value locked (TVL) from 30 different projects that use it to scale such as Synthetix (SNX), UniSwap (UNI), Stargate Finance (STG) and Perpetual Protocol to name a few. <\/p>\n<p>The rumors of a possible token distribution to users of the related projects started to swirl on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> earlier today after Optimism <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/optimism.mirror.xyz\/Fdpds7l4yE2VDpLN4AZQUCjpBYdoPrIHw6a4uzUepmw\">published<\/a> a blog post titled \u201cA New Chapter\u201d which rec<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed the project\u2019s performance since its launch early last year, along with outlining its plans moving forward. <\/p>\n<p>The team highlighted notable milestones over the past 12 months such as $17.4 billion worth of transaction volume, $24.5 million worth of revenue and saving $1.1 billion worth of gas fees.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Optimism&#8217;s story so far, by the numbers:<\/p>\n<p> Saved $1.1B in gas fees<br \/> On-boarded 300k unique addresses<br \/> Secured $900M of value<br \/> Facilitated $17.4B in TX volume<br \/> Generated $24.5M in revenue<\/p>\n<p>A new chapter is near.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a minute to reflect on the path so far.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 \u2728 Optimism.io\/amsterdam (@optimismPBC) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/optimismPBC\/status\/1516439426330599428?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 19, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nWhile Optimism didn\u2019t directly state anything about launching or airdropping a native token, onlookers highlighted the last section of the post which outlines a new stage of development that will be driven by the community: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe network has grown by leaps and bounds, and it\u2019s only getting better  by the day. We\u2019re nearing the end of a chapter and the beginning of the next\u2013\u2013one driven by community ownership and governance.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Commenting on the wording of the post, self-described \u201cmaster airdrop hunter\u201d \u201cOlimpioCrypto\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OlimpioCrypto\/status\/1516455296146841608\">suggested<\/a> to their 7,164 Twitter followers that SNX might be the token to keep an eye on for potential airdrops, as Synthetix was the first protocol to start working with Optimism. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTeam at Optimism started working with Synthetix before any other protocol. $SNX holders, there might be a treat for you.
