\n A 77-year-old Portland woman pleaded with anti-police protesters to stop the destructive vandalism amid weeks of unrest in the city \u2014 only to have paint dumped over her head, video shows.<\/p>\n

The elderly woman, only identified as Cobey, app<\/a>roached one group of protesters with her walker outside the Portland Police Bureau\u2019s East Precinct station house Thursday night to tell them any destruction was \u201cnot OK,\u201d news<\/a> station KGW-TV reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just got heated under the collar and said \u2018Hey, this is not OK. This is my neighborhood, you\u2019re not helping my black friends,\u2019\u201d she told the outlet.<\/p>\n

But her message wasn\u2019t well-received by the demonstrators \u2014 who responded by hurling blue paint and tossing caution tape at her.<\/p>\n

Video posted to Twitter<\/a> from the aftermath of the episode showed a paint-soaked Cobey standing defiant as one of the demonstrators yells in her face.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou really believe in this?\u201d he could be heard shouting.<\/p>\n

Cobey said she doesn\u2019t plan to press charges, but she still stands by her message.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not OK to destroy property. You can say what you have to say, but be part of the solution, not part of the problem,\u201d she told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Portland has seen near-daily protests against police brutality since the cop-involved killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May.<\/p>\n

Some of the Oregon demonstrations have escalated to violence, including during the two weeks in July when the Trump administration deployed federal agents to protect the federal courthouse downtown.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
