in leaked video&#8221;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Starbucks\u2019 billionaire boss Howard Schultz demanded that local and regional managers of his coffee chain forcefully intervene and help the Seattle-based coffee giant defeat a rising tide of unionization.<\/p>\n<p>Newly leaked video obtained by the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/perfectunion.us\/in-leaked-video-call-howard-schultz-begs-starbucks-managers-to-step-up-union-busting\/\">pro-labor news site More Perfect Union<\/a> shows Schultz \u2014 who retook the reins as interim CEO last month \u2014 and another top executive implore the managers to \u201cdo your role\u2026of us union-busting all over the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rossann Williams, Starbucks\u2019 president for North America, told the managers in the same video that it is \u201cyour No. 1 responsibility\u201d to convince employees to vote \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo your role as a store manager [and] make sure your partners get balanced information about what\u2019s going on \u2014 especially in this role of us union-busting all over the country,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n<p>Schultz encouraged managers to communicate the company\u2019s position to employees so that they \u201cunderstand what it would really mean to vote for a union.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-wrapper twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">EXCLUSIVE: In a leaked video call, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz begged managers to increase their union busting.<\/p>\n<p>The billionaire CEO blasted unionizing, hourly employees as \u201cso-called workers\u201d and \u201csome outside force that\u2019s going to dictate or disrupt who we are and what we do.\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KIFI5FzDxr\">pic.twitter.com\/KIFI5FzDxr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 More Perfect Union (@MorePerfectUS) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MorePerfectUS\/status\/1517175142702587906?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 21, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The interim CEO said it was \u201ccritically important\u201d that all employees vote. He then accused Starbucks Workers United of bullying other workers not to vote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, there are stories \u2014 I wasn\u2019t there \u2014 but there are stories that people potentially had been bullied not to vote,\u201d according to Schultz.
