He is pictured competing on the program, which was filmed last year in Texas. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cFour or five days before I had to leave [for filming], I started getting these weird sensations on my tongue \u2014 this tingling or burning with salts, as well as acids like champagne vinegar or lemon juice, but there was no discernible difference for me,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n<p>Kalb was still able to compete on the show after testing negative for the virus prior to shooting. However, his sense of taste had failed to return, leaving him at a massive disadvantage in the competition. <\/p>\n<p>Despite the drawback, the chef still shined in the series, even winning multiple challenges before ultimately being eliminated on Thursday night\u2019s episode.<\/p>\n<p>Asked how he managed to make his meals without knowing whether the taste was right, Kalb stated: \u201cHonestly, a lot of it was instincts, and a lot of it was a total crapshoot.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/jackson-kalb-04.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Despite the drawback, the chef still shined in the series, even winning multiple challenges. He was eliminated on Thursday night\u2019s episode of the show.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kalb said \u201cabout 75%\u201d of his taste had returned two months after he wr<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed the series. <\/p>\n<p>Now, eight months on, the chef says he \u201cthinks\u201d his taste has returned 100%, although he is \u201cnot sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Loss of both taste and smell is a common symptom of COVID-19, with researchers at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/lung\/news\/20220118\/study-finds-genetic-factor-covid-smell-taste-loss#:~:text=They%20analyzed%20data%20from%20nearly,or%20taste%20as%20a%20symptom.\">23andMe<\/a> finding 68% of all patients experienced the loss of at least one of those senses. <\/p>\n<p>The percentage was determined by the company after analyzing data from almost 70,000 people in both the US and UK who contracted COVID.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
