The former was Push\u2019s main steward during his days with the Clipse, crafting the bulk of the group\u2019s three albums beginning with 2002\u2019s\u00a0<em>Lord Willin\u2019, <\/em>while\u00a0the latter either contributed or helmed the boards for Push\u2019s solo albums.<\/p>\n<p>Although Ye and Skateboard P split production duties on\u00a0<em>It\u2019s Almost Dry<\/em>, one particular name who came up during the initial creative process for the album was Madlib. In Push\u2019s eyes, erecting an album better than his Grammy Award-nominated 2018 album\u00a0<em>DAYTONA<\/em> was the main goal of\u00a0<em>It\u2019s Almost Dry,<\/em> and he nearly went outside of his usual camp to achieve such a feat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got some beats and they were actually chops from him,\u201d Pusha explained to his manager Steven Victor during a session moderated by Noah Callahan-Bever for Push\u2019s\u00a0<em>It\u2019s Almost Dry<\/em> radio show on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.onamp.com\/\">Amp<\/a>. \u201cI just think he\u2019s really dope at finding ill sounds and ill chops, and things of that nature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut at the same time, it was feeling like a beat tape situation. I felt like to step it up I had to be produced \u2013 to step it up from\u00a0<em>Daytona<\/em>.\u00a0When you think about [my last album], it\u2019s just beats and hard raps. I wasn\u2019t produced.\u00a0The structure of\u00a0Kanye West\u00a0you know, taking these things out or whatever the case may be. Honestly, it was just that.<em>\u00a0It\u2019s Almost Dry<\/em>\u00a0is an exercise, definitely on the Pharrell side, in being produced.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Push said he got sent a folder of dope loops from Madlib, kinda like, \u201cdo your thing!\u201d But he felt like the only way to top Daytona was to allow himself to really be produced in a more hands on way, so he decided to go in a different direction (sitting with Ye and P) for this 1<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Noah Callahan-Bever (@N_C_B) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/N_C_B\/status\/1518023049030815746?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 24, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Although the record features notable production moments from 88-Keys on records such as \u201cDiet Coke,\u201d\u00a0<em>It\u2019s Almost Dry\u00a0<\/em>contains elements of Ye\u2019s chipmunk sound on records such as \u201cDreamin\u2019 of the Past\u201d and \u201cRock N Roll\u201d and P pulling in sounds reminiscent of\u00a0<em>Hell Hath No Fury<\/em>, particularly on \u201cNeck &amp; Wrist\u201d with JAY-Z.<\/p>\n<p>However, Pusha and Madlib still could give fans something in the future. As he told\u00a0<em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/kazimagazine.com\/editorials\/digital-issue\/pusha-t\/\">KAZI Magazine<\/a><\/em>\u00a0in 2020, he and the <em>Pi\u00f1ata<\/em> producer are sitting on \u201ca hard drive of gems,\u201d which would be a \u201cbucket list\u201d project for him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re taking our time,\u201d he said. I\u2019m crafting and writing to some of them,\u201d Push said. \u201cThat\u2019s a bucket list thing for me. The fact that we\u2019re in contact and everything is good, I see that happening.
