That\u2019s very important for me not to speak for Ben because I can\u2019t relate to what he\u2019s going through,\u201d Nash said. \u201cThere\u2019s a mental component with everything. Ben\u2019s addressed that there is a mental component with what he\u2019s going through; but how much and where he\u2019s at with that is not for me to speak about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simmons and Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul met with Nets <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> manager Sean Marks before Brooklyn\u2019s do-or-die first-round <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> 4 against the Celtics, according to ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>Simmons \u2014 who has had his desire to play questioned by Hall of Famers like Shaquille O\u2019Neal, Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller \u2014 reiterated to team officials that he wants to play as soon as he can. We want to help if he needs help in any aspect of his life and his game. He\u2019s a cornerstone, so we want to help him feel great, play great and become a part of this team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They need him to. Because Nash is right: They\u2019re committed, for better or worse. Simmons has three years and $114 million left on his contract.<\/p>\n<p>Simmons was ramping up to play but suffered a herniated L-4 disk in his lower back, one that required an epidural in mid-March.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple orthopedic specialists told The Post that Simmons was likely to miss the rest of the season, and a source close to the player added, \u201cIt\u2019s just a timing thing. The problem is the season is running out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It may have run out. Brooklyn entered Monday down 3-0 and facing elimination. I don\u2019t know what we\u2019re calling it. He\u2019s still trying to strengthen and put himself in a position to play,\u201d Nash said. \u201cHe could feel great today, he could feel poor tomorrow. I just think that\u2019s the landscape we\u2019re in with his back.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Simmons hasn\u2019t had another MRI exam or been ruled out of Game 5, if there is one. But there have been eyebrows raised inside by everything from Simmons\u2019 flashy attire to this sudden heel turn, and dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointment he wasn\u2019t on the court for an elimination game and is unlikely to play alongside his teammates before next season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d be careful that disappointed doesn\u2019t get taken out of context. Of course we\u2019re all disappointed,\u201d Nash said. \u201cWe\u2019d love to see Ben on the floor with our teammates, but I don\u2019t want it to be taken that I\u2019m disappointed in Ben or anything like that. No. His back is his back, and we\u2019ve got to work through this and he\u2019s got to continue to fight. \u2026 But yeah, of course, we\u2019d love to see Ben with our guys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both Nash and a source close to Simmons expect him to avoid offseason surgery. But it\u2019s a tough blow to deal a former MVP and get back a player who\u2019s fighting not only back but mental issues and no guarantee either will be sorted out next year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate for him.
