\n New video has emerged of Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa and a handful of his group members going toe to toe with crowds of people in lower Manhattan \u2014 one even throwing a bicycle at him \u2014 amid a night of looting.<\/p>\n

Sliwa and his citizens crime fighting group had taken position at the Foot Locker store at Broadway and Washington Place when the brawl broke out around 10 p.m., he said.<\/p>\n

Sliwa charges that looters were trying to get into the store because it contained limited edition Nike sneakers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a whole demonstration walking by and the looters were in the crowd,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said marchers tried to get past his group three times \u2014 at 8 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. The attack caught on the video was the second of the trio.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt had happ<\/a>ened a first time and they said they were coming back,\u201d Sliwa said,\u00a0 \u201cAs bad as this one was, the next one was worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the third attack, he suffered a fractured jaw when he was hit with a hammer and one of the men in his group suffered a broken eye socket and broken nose.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police had been told to stand down,\u201d Sliwa claimed. \u201cI said to the cops \u2018How do you allow this? We\u2019re not standing down. We\u2019re making a stand.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, at 11:15 p.m. \u201cthe cavalry arrived,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was hundreds of cops,\u201d he said. \u201cThey chased them and they ran toward the Lower East Side.\u201d<\/p>\n
