But if showing a percent in your spreadsheet is beneficial, we\u2019ll show you a few easy ways to calculate a percentage\u00a0and format it in Google Sheets.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_One_Divide_Part_of_a_Total\"><\/span>Method One: Divide Part of a Total<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can calculate the percentage for part of a total with a simple formula in Google Sheets.<\/p>\n<p>The syntax for the formula is <code>=(part\/total)<\/code> or part <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/445470\/how-to-divide-numbers-in-google-sheets\/\">divided by total. The benefit is that not only can you calculate and format the result at the same time but adjust the decimal places as well.
