use of Pfizer pill for COVID&#8221;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Vice President Kamala Harris has said she had \u201cno symptoms\u201d following her COVID-19 diagnosis \u2014 but some medical experts were left baffled after it was revealed she was taking an antiviral pill designed to treat patients with severe cases.<\/p>\n<p>Harris\u2019 office announced Tuesday that the vice president was prescribed and had used Pfizer\u2019s Paxlovid following a consultation with her doctors just hours after she tested positive for the virus. <\/p>\n<p>Paxlovid is designed to reduce severe symptoms among high risk patients, which has some experts questioning why it would be prescribed to a healthy, double-boosted and asymptomatic 57-year-old patient.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAsymptomatic covid and no medical issues isn\u2019t an indication for Paxlovid,\u201d former Surgeon <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Jerome Adams <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JeromeAdamsMD\/status\/1519339910922133510\">tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Reiner, Professor of Medicine and Surgery at George Washington University School of Medicine &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion appeared to be at odds with White\u00a0House COVID-\u206019 Response Coordinator Dr. Ashish\u00a0Jha\u2019s guidance that it be given to patients with a high risk for developing a severe case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, he also said \u2026 that you should consult with your doctor, and she consulted with her doctor,\u201d Psaki said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe has been given Paxlovid. That\u2019s something many Americans may be eligible for. They should also consult with their doctor.
