\n Whoa! Leaked screen tests from \u201cBill & Ted\u2019s Excellent Adventure\u201d reveal a baby-faced Keanu Reeves hamming it up with the competition for his role in the cult classic time-travel<\/a> comedy.<\/p>\n

The grainy found footage from 1986 \u2014 never been seen before by the public \u2014 shows the \u201cJohn Wick\u201d actor joking and roughhousing with Alex Winter, who would eventually be cast as Bill S. Preston Esq. opposite his Theodore \u201cTed\u201d Logan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were lots of people auditioning,\u201d an insider who was on the set but requested anonymity told News<\/a>flare.<\/p>\n

Winter directed the recently released HBO doc \u201cShowbiz Kids,\u201d and Reeves obviously went on to major movie stardom in action blockbusters such as \u201cSpeed\u201d and \u201cThe Matrix\u201d series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Back in the day, however, their competition included familiar flashback faces such as comedia<\/a>n Pauly Shore (\u201cEncino Man,\u201d \u201cBio-Dome\u201d), Matt Adler (\u201cTeen Wolf,\u201d \u201cFlight of the Navigator\u201d) and Gary Riley (\u201cStand by Me,\u201d \u201cRuthless People\u201d).<\/p>\n

But the chosen \u201cB&T\u201d duo\u2019s obvious chemistry put them ahead of the post-Brat Pack.<\/p>\n

In fact, the original film\u2019s director Stephen Herek, 61, said he never really considered anyone else for Ted.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was right away with Keanu,\u201d he told The Independent. \u201cThere was just something so f\u2013king magnetic about the guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The official trailer for the third installment in the enduring, endearingly goofy franchise \u2014 \u201cBill & Ted Face the Music,\u201d due out Aug. 28 in theaters and On Demand \u2014 <\/span>dropped in early June. However, it\u2019s safe to say fans have been slobbering for this promo trailer since the B&T reboot was first hyped <\/span>last<\/em> summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanna say thank you to you the fans,\u201d Reeves, 55, says in the viral promo clip released when production launched in March 2019. \u201cIt\u2019s all because of you guys and we owe you a huge debt of gratitude, so thank you \u2014 and be excellent,\u201d Winter, 54, chimes in.<\/p>\n

The official \u201cFace the Music\u201d plot synopsis: \u201cYet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends \u2014 to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe.\u201d<\/p>\n

The sequel picks up where 1991\u2019s \u201cBill & Ted\u2019s Bogus Journey\u201d left off \u2014 but, of course, \u201cthe stakes are higher than ever.\u201d Hey, it\u2019s produced by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh and directed by Dean Parisot (\u201cGalaxy Quest\u201d), so we wouldn\u2019t expect anything less.<\/p>\n

\u201cBill & Ted\u2019s Excellent Adventure\u201d premiered in 1989, introducing the teen buds who are on the verge of failing out of high school if they don\u2019t pass their upcoming history report.<\/p>\n

With the threat of Ted\u2019s dad sending him off to military school \u2014 and breaking up their band, Wyld Stallyns \u2014 as punishment, the pals recruit time-traveler Rufus (George Carlin) to help them ace the assignment. Along the way they meet a host of historical figures \u2014 from Sigmund Freud to Joan of Arc \u2014 and the rest is cinematic history.<\/p>\n
