According to Silva, the law will \u201chelp Panama become a hub of innovation and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> in Latin America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Panama\u2019s National Assembly, the Crypto Law is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/asambleapa\/status\/1519713318440734723\">aimed<\/a> at regulating \u201cthe trading and use of crypto assets, the issuance of digital value, the tokenization of precious metals and other assets, payment systems and other provisions.\u201d However, Panamanian President Laurentino Cortizo must sign the approved bill before it becomes law. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will help create jobs and financial inclusion,\u201d said Silva on the passage of the bill.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Aprobada la Ley de Crypto de Panam\u00e1! This will help Panama become a hub of innovation and technology in Latin America!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Gabriel Silva (@gabrielsilva8_7) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gabrielsilva8_7\/status\/1519713071467483139?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 28, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nIn September 2021 \u2014 the same day El Salvador began recognizing Bitcoin (BTC) as legal tender \u2014 Silva helped\u00a0introduce the bill to the National Assembly of Panama, with the legislation aimed at making the country \u201ccompatible with the digital economy, blockchain, crypto assets and the internet.\u201d The bill moved out of the Economic Affairs Committee on April 21 before being approved by the National Assembly. <\/p>\n<p>In contrast to El Salvador\u2019s Bitcoin Law, which required local businesses to accept Bitcoin, Panama\u2019s Crypto Law, if passed, would likely give residents and businesses the option of using and accepting cryptocurrency. According to an early draft of the bill, many businesses would not <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1DYbgDOLj0ZQHJ1xBAl4KqgtBK2Zz4lFf\/view\">need<\/a> a special license to accept crypto.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Brazil\u2019s Senate approves \u2018Bitcoin law\u2019 to regulate cryptocurrencies<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear if the passage of the Crypto Law would lead Panama to accept Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as legal tender alongside the balboa and U.S. dollar.
