new tech.<\/p>\n<p>As if the metaverse wasn\u2019t bad enough with\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/17869955\/seedy-metaverse-strip-club-facebook-vr-headset\/\">seedy strip clubs<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/17742178\/metaverse-children-strip-club-adult\/\">naked avatars<\/a>, experts want to take the realism a step further.<\/p>\n<p>Scientists have created a device that brings a feeling sensation to the mouth, lips and tongue.<\/p>\n<p>They pulled it off by adding a load of special ultrasonic transducers to a VR headset.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, the metaverse and\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/virtual-reality\/\">VR<\/a>\u00a0is largely focused on 360 visuals, sound and hand controls.<\/p>\n<p>Although experts don\u2019t show how it could be used to kiss, you can imagine how it might become a popular use case for virtual lovers.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, they demonstrate the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> being used in various scenarios, such as a haunted adventure <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> with spiders.<\/p>\n<p>Testers felt sensations on their lips as they walked through webs, creepy crawlers jumped up at their face, and even a sensory feeling from exploding spiders when you shoot them.<\/p>\n<p>Other use cases mimic the sensation from drinking at a water fountain, sipping a coffee, brushing your teeth and even smoking a cigarette.<\/p>\n<p>The clever tech is capable of simulating swipes and vibrations in and around your mouth that you would associate with each activity.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" boosts realism and immersion, and heightens user reactions,\u201d researchers from Carnegie Mellon University said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough we demonstrated a range of haptic effects, the<br \/>vocabulary of sensations is still limited compared to that of the real<br \/>world (a high bar).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat said, it is roughly comparable to that of vibration motors in handheld controllers and many mobile phones, but with more spatial expressivity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNonetheless, we believe VR\/AR systems should strive for greater realism, and future work is necessary to expand
