That\u2019s four of the five quarters under this president that have seen growth not meet economists\u2019 consensus predictions.<\/p>\n<p>Biden claims the nation\u2019s still seeing \u201cenormous\u201d growth, but in fact that\u2019s an illusion thanks to four-decade-high inflation, now past  8.5% (and higher for gas and food). All as we stare down a war in Europe and a China COVID crisis likely to inflict further shocks.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, after the boom years under Trump and a post-COVID recovery starting to put out green shoots, the US now faces a perfect economic storm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnemployment\u2019s the lowest rate since 1970,\u201d the president also cherry-picked, ignoring the fact that his stat doesn\u2019t include the millions of working-age Americans who aren\u2019t <em>looking <\/em>for work as the nation struggles to get back to its pre-COVID number of jobs.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/biden-2-4.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Woman grocery shopping\" class=\"wp-image-22076687\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/biden-2-4.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/biden-2-4.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/biden-2-4.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>US inflation reached a four-decade high of 8.5 percent in March. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">FREDERIC J. BROWN\/AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The simple fact is that Biden and the Democrats who control Congress have been re-imposing the policies of the 1970s, and the result is clearly the same stagflation the country suffered then. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Their American Rescue Plan dumped $1.9 trillion into an economy already running hot and touched off the inflation conflagration (as a Fed study shows).\u00a0Their <em>still<\/em>-ongoing war on US energy production reproduces the impact of the \u201970s \u201coil shocks.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>And all they offer is more of the same: Biden\u2019s budget calls for yet more deficit-spending, as did his now-dead Build Back Better bill. And his plan to forgive billions in student-loan debt would <em>further<\/em> goose the money supply.<\/p>\n<p>His policies are wreaking disaster, and all he offers is bogus assertions (\u201cevery economist agrees,\u201d when they don\u2019t remotely, is a regular line), blithe denial (\u201cinflation is transitory\u201d) and lame blame-shifting (first \u201ccorporate greed,\u201d then \u201cPutin\u2019s price hike\u201d). <\/p>\n<p>Biden spent his entire life, in Congress and then as vice president, not being personally responsible for anything and tossing out endless malarkey about how everything bad was the other team\u2019s fault.
