The dad has addressed his petition to Colorado Gov. Jared Polis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a petition to hopefully get the state of Colorado to intervene and have the items from the crime scene that should be tested for DNA that haven\u2019t been tested,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/jonbenet-ramseys-father-petition-crimecon\">Ramsey told Fox News<\/a> during an interview at CrimeCon 2022 in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s gonna take a lot of help to get that moving,\u201d he went on. \u201cGovernments are very reactive. \u2026 And we\u2019re talking about politicians, we want them to do the right thing and if they know there\u2019s enough people behind it asking them to do the right thing, they\u2019ll get behind it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>JonBenet was found strangled to death in the basement of her parents\u2019 home on Dec. 26, 1996. Jared Polis.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">McKenzie Lange\/The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel via AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Boulder police said on the 25th anniversary of the infamous killing that they had processed more than 1,500 pieces of evidence and analyzed \u201cnearly 1,000\u201d DNA samples.<\/p>\n<p>Ramsey and his wife, Patsy \u2014 who died in 2006 \u2014 were a focus of Boulder investigators and drew scrutiny amid national interest in the case, but they were cleared in 2008 after unknown male DNA was found on the girl\u2019s dress.<\/p>\n<p>The Ramseys\u2019 now adult son, Burke, settled a $750 million defamation suit with CBS that suggested he might have been the killer.
