In particular, the authors said that the original letter, which was signed by Democratic Representative Jared Huffman and 22 members of Congress, \u201cconfuses datacenters with power generation facilities,\u201d among other inaccuracies.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Certain members of Congress sent a letter to the EPA premised on several misperceptions about <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> mining. We have authored a response to clear up the confusion, correct inaccuracies, and educate the public.<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ks6fh9Cg0Z\">https:\/\/t.co\/Ks6fh9Cg0Z<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michael Saylor\u26a1\ufe0f (@saylor) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/saylor\/status\/1521106193997086721?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 2, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nThe Democrats\u2019 letter urges the EPA to ensure that digital asset miners comply with the \u201cfoundational environmental statutes like the Clean Air Act or the Clean Water Act\u201d and goes on to air several concerns related to cryptocurrency mining, such as electronic waste and noise pollution. The BMC letter seizes on eight points and rebuts them at length. <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ewg.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-04\/Crypto%20letter%20to%20EPA.pdf?utm_campaign=EWG+Content&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_medium=Social&amp;utm_source=twitter\">According<\/a> to the industry group, the original letter&#8217;s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ewg.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-04\/Crypto%20letter%20to%20EPA.pdf?utm_campaign=EWG+Content&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_medium=Social&amp;utm_source=twitter\">assertion<\/a> that Bitcoin mining facilities across the country are &#8220;polluting communities\u201d is inaccurate. According to BMC, Bitcoin mining facilities produce no pollution, rather power generating facilities do. The failure to make that distinction comes up more than once. The authors also debunk what they see as outright misinformation, such as \u201cA single Bitcoin transaction could power the average U.S. household for a month.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, BMC may have revealed its own prejudices in its response to the claim that proof-of-stake (PoS) processing is less energy-intensive. After holding PoS to several criticisms, the industry group states the following:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cGiven that proof-of-stake and proof-of-work are qualitatively different, it\u2019s misleading to refer to proof-of-stake as a more &#8220;efficient&#8221; form of proof-ofwork, since it does not achieve the same thing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The letter also points out that many miners engage in high-performance computing, which has many beneficial <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications beyond Bitcoin and digital assets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>BMC is an industry association open to all Bitcoin miners. It originated from a meeting of North American Bitcoin miners initiated by Michael Saylor in May 2021. Currently, the group has 44 \u201cadvisory members.\u201d It has also\u00a0published several reports on the environmental impact of Bitcoin mining and proof-of-work more <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly.
