\n Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday said he launched an investigation into PSE&G and Con Edison\u2019s \u201clousy\u201d response to Tropical Storm Isaias \u2014 as more than 29,000 customers remain without power.<\/p>\n

\u201cCon Ed and PSE&G did a lousy job. It\u2019s a technical term \u2014 a lousy job,\u201d Cuomo snarked on a phone conference with reporters. \u201cThey were not prepared and they didn\u2019t anticipate what it would take to get online quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

The governor said he\u2019s ordered the Public Service Commission to conduct an investigation.<\/p>\n

Outage maps currently show 24,933 Con Ed and 1,686 PSE&G customers without power as mercury climbs to the upper 90s.<\/p>\n

A heat advisory is in effect for the region until 8 p.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Saying he was \u201cpersonally disapp<\/a>ointed\u201d with the utilities\u2019 response to Isaias, which swept through the area on Tuesday, Cuomo also threatened that their \u201cfranchise can be revoked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not bluffing,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you\u2019re not serving the people of this state, they give you a license to provide a service. If you don\u2019t provide the service, they will revoke the license and the license is your franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the five boroughs, Queens is currently suffering the hardest in terms of power outages, with 5,520 customers still out. Meanwhile, 1,304 people in the Bronx, 363 in Brooklyn, 132 on Staten Island, 68 in Manhattan are still without power.<\/p>\n

In Westchester, 17,418 are powerless.<\/p>\n

Cuomo\u2019s warning comes after New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams last week floated the idea of a municipal takeover of Con Ed.<\/p>\n

Con Ed spokesman Robert McGee said the utility is \u201ccompletely focused on restoring power as safely and quickly as possible to every customer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter every major event we perform a thorough analysis of what can be improved and we\u2019ll do the same following the second worst storm in the history of our service territory,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

PSE&G didn\u2019t immedia<\/a>tely comment on Cuomo\u2019s remarks.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
