\n EXCLUSIVE:<\/strong> SpongeBob\u2018s partner in crime is getting his own show. I have learned that Nickelodeon is finalizing deals for \u201cThe Patrick Star Show,\u201d a \u201cSpongeBob Squarepants\u201d animated spinoff centered on SpongeBob\u2019s best friend Patrick Star, voiced by Bill Fagerbakke.<\/p>\n

I hear voiceover recordings already have started for the project, which is expected to receive a 13-episode order and comes from the creative team behind the mothership series.<\/p>\n

According to sources, \u201cThe Patrick Star Show\u201d is in the vein of \u201cThe Larry Sanders Show\u201d and \u201cComedy Bang Bang!,\u201d with Patrick (Fagerbakke) hosting his own late-night talk show. I hear the series would revolve around Patrick and his family. Fagerbakke is being joined by a largely new cast voicing new characters, with \u201cSpongeBob\u201d cast members expected to make occasional app<\/a>earances, reprising their roles.<\/p>\n

A rep for Nickelodeon declined comment.<\/p>\n

In early 2019, Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins announced that the network would be developing for the first time ever spinoff projects for \u201cSpongeBob SquarePants\u201d characters. The first such project to get green light was \u201cKamp Koral,\u201d the upcoming 13-episode CG-animated \u201cSpongeBob\u201d prequel series, which recently moved from Nickelodeon to sibling streamer CBS All Access.<\/p>\n

The new \u201cSpongeBob\u201d spinoff would be one of several new animated projects coming to Nickelodeon, joining the recently announced adaptation of \u201cReal Pigeons Fight Crime,\u201d executive produced by James Corden and Ben Winston, and \u201cMiddlemost Post,\u201d created by \u201cSpongeBob\u201d alum John Trabbic III.<\/p>\n

Created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank, \u201cSpongeBob SquarePants\u201d chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurable optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.<\/p>\n

Since its launch 21 years ago,\u00a0\u201cSpongeBob SquarePants\u201d has reigned as the No. 1 kids\u2019 animated series on TV for the last 18 years, while generating a universe of beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony award-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base.\u00a0\u201cSpongeBob SquarePants\u201d\u00a0is the most widely distributed property in Viacom International Media<\/a> Networks history, seen in more than 208 countries and territories, translated in 55 languages, and averaging more than 100 million total viewers every quarter.<\/p>\n

The latest movie in the franchise, \u201cThe SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run,\u201d will be released on premium VOD and CBS All Access in early 2021.<\/p>\n

Fagerbakke is probably best known for playing Dauber on ABC\u2019s \u201cCoach\u201d for nine years. The veteran actor also played Jason Segal\u2019s dad on CBS\u2019 \u201cHow I Met Your Mother,\u201d and also recurred on Showtime\u2019s \u201cI\u2019m Dying Up Here\u201d and\u00a0Netflix\u2019s \u201cUnbelievable.\u201d He is repped by Main Title Entertainment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
