Who is Admiral April, and what is his crucial connection to the five-year mission on which the <em>Enterprise<\/em> just embarked? Before he was promoted to the rank of Admiral, Robert April was the Captain of the <em>Enterprise<\/em>, and Pike was his Number One. Thank you!&#8221;<br \/>\n <!-- No winning ad found for zone: word count #2! --><br \/>\nSome fans have long considered <em>TAS<\/em> \u201cdubious canon,\u201d even though many storylines are crucial to character development for the bridge crew from <em>Star Trek: The Original Series.<\/em> Additionally, many species of aliens who made their debut in <em>The Original Series<\/em> animated follow-up appeared in <em>Star Trek: Lower Decks<\/em>. In addition, more recent <em>Star Trek<\/em> canon has brought the <em>TAS<\/em>-originated Captain April into the live-action canon, having referenced him in two <em>Star Trek: Discovery <\/em>season two episodes: \u201cChoose Your Pain,\u201d in which he was noted to be one of Starfleet\u2019s most decorated captains, and \u201cBrother,\u201d which confirmed April as the previous captain of the <em>Enterprise<\/em> (as well as Pike\u2019s relationship to him as his former Number One).<br \/>\n<!-- Zone: character count repeatable. --><br \/>\nAs for Holmes, the Canadian actor was born in Whales and currently plays the role of Uncle Phil on <em>Bel-Air<\/em>, Peacock\u2019s reboot of <em>Fresh Prince of Bel-Air<\/em>. Holmes also appeared on <em>Arrow<\/em> in a recurring role as Frank Pike, the police captain.<br \/>\n <!-- No winning ad found for zone: word count #3! --><br \/>\nThere is one other place that April previously appeared in the <em>Trek<\/em> universe: in the <em>Star Trek Encyclopedia<\/em>. According to a Tweet sent by Michael Okuda, who co-authored the book with his wife Denise Okuda, the photograph of Captain April included in the <em>Encyclopedia<\/em> was created by photoshopping Gene Roddenberry\u2019s face onto a photo of William Shatner playing James T.
