In this effort to operate as a fully licensed financial institution, the exchange has stopped offering it&#8217;s crypto derivatives services in Spain as it reportedly awaits approval from the Spanish regulator, Comisi\u00f3n Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV).<\/p>\n<p>As evidenced by Binance\u2019s official Spanish\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/es\">website<\/a>, the crypto exchange removed the derivatives drop-down menu, which is still available on the global version. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lainformacion.com\/empresas\/cnmv-prohibe-binance-vender-derivados-criptoactivos-espana\/2865815\/\">According<\/a> to local <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> publication La Informaci\u00f3n, the move to hide derivatives offering in Spain comes as a way to comply with the requirements set by CNMV, a.k.a. the National Securities Market Commission.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-05\/a1a9f948-53be-4205-b634-666f128edac7.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\">Navigation menu on Binance Spanish (top) and global (bottom) versions. While the screenshot confirms Binance\u2019s intent to offer services only upon regulatory approval, further investigation from Cointelegraph confirmed that the URLs related to derivative offerings in Spain \u2014 including <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/es\/futures\">futures<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/es\/futures-activity\/battle\">battle<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/es\/derivatives-portal\">derivative portal<\/a> \u2014 remain active.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-05\/06094743-9f3e-4b96-ad5b-859157d22db9.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\">Active derivatives portal on Binance Spain version. Source: Binance<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, the local report suggested that Binance will reintroduce the derivatives option only after receiving the regulatory green light in the form of a guarantee certificate from the Bank of Spain (BdE).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In June 2021, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao revealed plans to expedite the crypto exchange\u2019s growth by working with the regulators, stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe want to be licensed everywhere.
