Kathy Hochul and fellow Democrats for trying to ram through unconstitutionally gerrymandered voting districts \u2014 and how do they respond? By resorting to sneaky new ways to <em>force<\/em> those districts on voters anyway.<\/p>\n<p>The maps disenfranchised voters of both parties \u2014 Republicans, by squeezing them into a few districts so that the GOP would lose half its House seats; Democrats, by creating \u201csafe\u201d Dem seats that would be dominated by the party bosses\u2019 choices.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee went to federal court to force New York to use the tainted maps anyway. This, after all the Democrats\u2019 noise in Congress these last 15 months about protecting voters\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this follows the state courts\u2019 repeated slapdowns of New York Dems.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, New York\u2019s Court of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>eals (every single member of which was hand-chosen by a <em>Democratic<\/em> governor) found the Dems\u2019 congressional district boundaries violated the state Constitution\u2019s ban on maps \u201cdrawn to discourage competition or for the purpose of favoring or disfavoring incumbents or other particular candidates or political parties.\u201d\u00a0That language comes from a 2014 constitutional amendment passed by New York voters, who essentially reaffirmed it in a referendum last year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"682\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Kathy-Hochul.jpg?w=682\" alt=\"Governor Kathy Hochul at Pier 60 in Manhattan for the Regional Plan Association Centennial Assembly.\" class=\"wp-image-22177283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Kathy-Hochul.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1023 1023w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Kathy-Hochul.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=682 682w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Kathy-Hochul.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=341 341w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Kathy-Hochul.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px\"\/><figcaption>Gov. Kathy Hochul has proven to be no different from her predecessor when it comes to protecting Democrats.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">William Farrington<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Dem maps would\u2019ve likely sliced the number of New York congressional seats held by Republicans from eight to just four, while Dems got 22. Instead, the judges ordered a court-appointed special master to draw <em>fair<\/em> district boundaries and that the June 28 primary be moved to Aug. 23, to ensure enough time for campaigning.<\/p>\n<p>New York Dems\u2019 response? They asked the court to adopt a \u201cnew\u201d congressional map that looks much like the one the court had just tossed: Heavily Democratic Park Slope would still be jammed into the Republican-leaning Staten Island district in a backdoor bid to flip it blue. Dems would also be better suited to steal GOP districts upstate and on Long Island.<\/p>\n<p>The DCCC, in its bid to save the gerrymander, tried to claim that forcing new districts would also disenfranchise voters \u2014 so there! We won\u2019t try to explain the \u201clogic\u201d there, except that it relied on the \u201cimpossibility\u201d of drawing new maps in time, a claim rejected by every state and federal authority involved. The state Board of Elections has said explicitly the primary can be moved to Aug. 23 and still meet all federal requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Dems simply want power, even as they blather about voters\u2019 rights.
