Avoid putting it away in cupboards<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>WiFi routers\u00a0aren\u2019t exactly the prettiest things so it\u2019s no wonder people try to stuff them away in a cupboard.<\/p>\n<p>However, doing this can have a really bad impact on your connection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s probably the most common mistake,\u201d broadband expert\u00a0Nick Baker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKeeping it in a cupboard, in a box under the stairs or tucked away means you\u2019re blocking most of your WiFi signal straight out.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"2-choose-a-central-location\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Choose_a_central_location\"><\/span>2. Don\u2019t put it right near a fish tank<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you have a fish tank, avoid putting your router right next to it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly if you put the router there and put your fish tank in front of it,\u201d Nick explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there\u2019s a fish tank in the room you\u2019ll be fine, it\u2019s not going absorb all your radio waves, it\u2019s just going to block it like any other piece of furniture.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"4-big-electricals-also-interfere\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Big_electricals_also_interfere\"><\/span>4.
