class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The former lawyer for escaped Alabama convict Casey Cole White fears his old client might attempt suicide by cop \u2014 saying the should-be-inmate suffers from severe mental illness and addiction issues.<\/p>\n<p>Dale Bryant, who represented White in his crime spree in 2015, said his ex-client \u201cwanted to die\u201d after being arrested.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was trying to get the officers to shoot him and that is kind of my fear, how this situation is going to end,\u201d he <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.waff.com\/2022\/05\/06\/casey-wanted-die-former-attorney-provides-unique-perspective-escaped-inmate-casey-white\/\">told local news station WAFF.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, Bryant fears \u201cCasey may try to shoot [cops] to try and get them to shoot him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to say in his interview after his arrest and in my conversations with him, he wanted to die that day,\u201d the lawyer added.<\/p>\n<p>The convicted killer, who fled the Lauderdale County jail April 29 with\u00a0former assistant director of corrections Vicky White, 56, \u201csuffers from a mental illness,\u201d his former attorney said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen he\u2019s on medication and in a supervised environment\u2026 he\u2019s a decent person,\u201d Bryant told the station. \u201cWhen he gets out of incarceration, he is unable to stay on his medication and he even self medicates by smoking methamphetamine or taking other illegal MEGA<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The lawyer said Casey White once admitted to him that he can\u2019t function outside a prison environment. <\/p>\n<p>He couldn\u2019t recall the murder suspect\u2019s exact mental illness diagnosis but thinks it might be schizophrenia.<\/p>\n<p>White once developed a close relationship with jail workers in a different Alabama county \u2014 long relationship a \u201cjailhouse romance,\u201d and the two are believed to be on the run together.<\/p>\n<p>Vicky White had told co-workers she was bringing Casey to a mental health evaluation at the courthouse but there was never an appointment scheduled.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Instead, she ditched the police cruiser she was driving and is believed to have fled with Casey in a 2007 orange Ford Edge
