Andrew Cuomo could get another crack at getting on the ballot to take on his former No. 2 and successor,\u00a0Gov. Kathy Hochul in the Democratic primary, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n<p>A plaintiff seeking to intervene in the Albany redistricting case is asking the judge to reopen the petitioning period for statewide primary elections \u2014 opening the door for a potential Cuomo reemergence.<\/p>\n<p>Political gadfly Gary Greenberg filed papers to intervene in the case, which urges Steuben County\u00a0state Supreme Court Judge Patrick McAllister to redo the Assembly lines as well as the so-called Democratic-drawn congressional \u201cHochulmander\u201d \u2014 which was tossed out for illegally partisan gerrymandering \u2014 in addition to Senate maps invalidated for procedural reasons.<\/p>\n<p>But Greenberg also requested that the judge push back the June 28 statewide\u00a0and Assembly primaries to August while reopening\u00a0petitioning for those races.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That would enable Cuomo and others not running to gather voter signatures to get on the ballot in primary races for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> or\u00a0comptroller.<\/p>\n<p>Greenberg said the voter signatures collected for statewide races were based on district lines that violated a 2014 amendment to the state constitution and therefore the petitioning should be redone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should use constitutional lines and have all the primaries in one day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Patrick-McAllister.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Gary Greenberg asked Judge Patrick McAllister to push back the primaries to August and reopen petitioning.\" class=\"wp-image-22201129\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Patrick-McAllister.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Patrick-McAllister.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Patrick-McAllister.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Gary Greenberg asked Judge Patrick McAllister to push back the primaries to August and reopen petitioning.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Vaughn Golden\/WSKG via AP, Pool<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cCuomo could run if he wants to. It\u2019s up to him,\u201d Greenberg said.<\/p>\n<p>Greenberg has been a bit of a Cuomo booster. He contributed $15,000 to Cuomo\u2019s campaign committee in 2016, state Board of Election records show.<\/p>\n<p>And he praised\u00a0Cuomo on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> after he was forced to resign in a sexual harassment scandal. \u201cDemocrats in NY who prematurely and without due process forced Cuomo to resign in a political coup are in a state of panic,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GAGreenberg\/status\/1510721259910451208?s=20&amp;t=wUYsMB2GCZ8IMGxrmRmNzQ\">Greenberg<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GAGreenberg\/status\/1510721259910451208?s=20&amp;t=wUYsMB2GCZ8IMGxrmRmNzQ\">tweeted last <\/a>month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShout out to Cuomo Administration for their mobile sports betting plan. I will just say that because there\u2019s always legal challenges as we\u2019re finding out, but the path right now is to continue with June 28 for statewide primaries,\u201d she told reporters at an Albany press conference.<\/p>\n<p>The governor also sought to deflect speculation that Cuomo would attempt a long-shot bid to challenge her during an ABC interview that aired Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no message [for him],\u201d Hochul said when asked of\u00a0Cuomo. \u201cEveryone will do what they choose to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo spokesman Richard Azzopardi declined comment on the prospects\u00a0of\u00a0 the ex-governor seeking a comeback in a rescheduled Democratic primary.<\/p>\n<p>An insider suggested Cuomo would be more interested in running as an independent candidate because the Democratic Party has purportedly\u00a0been hijacked by the hard left.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Governor Cuomo was interested in running in the Democratic primary, he would have filed petitions weeks ago. He also disenrolled from the Democratic Party years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Party insiders, meanwhile, dismissed Greenberg\u2019s bid to reopen\u00a0petitioning for statewide races.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreenberg is a Cuomo defender and a crackpot so maybe that\u2019s his theory.
