Wade\u00a0will \u201cquite likely\u201d define the Conservative leadership race.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Campaign Life Coalition, a prominent pro-life organization, has recommended to thousands of its supporters to vote for Lewis and not to vote for Poilievre, former Quebec premier <strong>Jean Charest<\/strong>, Brampton Mayor <strong>Patrick Brown<\/strong>, or Conservative MP <strong>Scott Aitchison<\/strong>. The organization is still reviewing the views of Ontario PC MPP <strong>Roman Baber<\/strong> and has not made a final decision. In a statement last week, Baber said that he would allow MPs to bring forward legislation and would not force caucus members to toe the party line on issues of con<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a>. \u201cIn a lopsided manner, it will give energy to <strong>Leslyn Lewis<\/strong> amongst the base,\u201d said <strong>Jack Fonseca<\/strong>, a spokesperson for the Campaign Life Coalition. \u201cIf they have <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> Conservative values, they will be more mindful of voting for the only social conservative candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Marginal:<\/strong> In the <em>Star<\/em>, <strong>Chantal Hebert<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/politics\/political-opinion\/2022\/05\/08\/us-drive-to-ban-abortion-just-made-it-tougher-for-canadas-conservatives.html\">points out<\/a> that a victory for abortion opponents in the United States may hinder, rather than help, their Canadian comrades.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If anything, the overturning in the U.S. of abortion rights is more likely to have the opposite effect, pushing the <strong>rearguard battle<\/strong> against the right to abortion and those who lead it in Canada further in the political margins. For if the Canadian anti-abortion movement has accomplished anything over 34 years since the Supreme Court\u2019s Morgentaler decision, it has been to solidify the political consensus against its cause.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Wedge:<\/strong> Also in the <em>Star<\/em>,\u00a0<strong>Supriya Dwivedi<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/opinion\/contributors\/2022\/05\/08\/its-not-wedge-politics-to-acknowledge-the-conservative-partys-stance-on-abortion.html\">writes that<\/a>, while a change in the legal status of abortion in Canada looks unlikely, it is fair to note the Conservatives\u2019 political reliance on abortion opponents.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It is also an undeniable fact that out of the two parties ever in contention to form government in this country, one of them <strong>actively courts the anti-choice vote<\/strong>. Yet for some reason to acknowledge this point leads to accusations of playing wedge politics \u2014 not just from Conservatives, but also many legacy political reporters and pundits alike.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>To the Rock:<\/strong> A flight carrying <strong>166 Ukrainian refugees<\/strong> landed in St. John\u2019s on Monday, CBC <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/newfoundland-labrador\/ukrainians-arrive-in-st-johns-1.6446713\">reports<\/a>.
