Windows automatically creates them in certain situations, but you may want to manually create them before installing hardware drivers or making other major system changes. Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_a_System_Restore_Point\"><\/span>What Is a System Restore Point?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Windows 10 and 11 include a utility called <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/howto\/windows-vista\/using-windows-vista-system-restore\/\">System Restore that can repair malfunctioning Windows installations by reverting certain system files and Windows Registry settings to a prior state. It does this by using restore points, which are snapshots of system files and the registry made either automatically or manually before problems arose.<\/p>\n<p>Restore points are stored in a hidden folder called \u201cSystem Volume Information\u201d that is located at the root of each drive. Creating a restore point does not make any changes to your system, but restoring it later does. We\u2019ll cover both Windows 10 and 11, as the instructions are the same in each version.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_note\"><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Windows will automatically create System Restore points in certain situations, so you may be able to restore to a previous system state even if you\u2019ve never manually created one. However, you may want to manually create System Restore points before making major changes to your computer\u2019s settings, installing drives, or installing large <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Create_a_System_Restore_Point_in_Windows\"><\/span>How to Create a System Restore Point in Windows<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s very easy to manually create a System Restore point in Windows 10 or Windows 11. This is the main interface for managing restore points within Windows. A good rule of thumb is to use a name that identifies why you\u2019re making the restore point, such as before a major installation or upgrade.
