Soon, Peacock will have <em>MacGruber<\/em>, an action-comedy that\u2019s based on the same show. Today, the streaming service announced an eight-episode pickup of the series that began as a parody sketch on <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em> and was later adapted as a feature film. <\/p>\n<p>Will Forte will reprise his role as the title character of <em>MacGruber<\/em> and will also co-write and executive produce on the series. Deadline reports that Ryan Phillippe and Kristen Wiig, who co-starred in the 2010 movie, are in talks to join the Peacock series.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s some additional information, as well as a teaser, from Peacock:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cMacGruber\u201d Series Pick-Up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-109111\"><\/span>The highly anticipated action comedy series \u201cMacGruber\u201d has been picked up to series. Based on the iconic SNL parody sketch, Peacock has ordered eight half-hour episodes.<\/p>\n<p>Will Forte will reprise his iconic role as MacGruber and also write and executive produce. The Peacock series is an adaptation of the 2010 feature film and cult favorite of the same title, which will also feature the original creative team behind the camera.<\/p>\n<p>After rotting in prison for over a decade, America\u2019s ultimate hero and uber patriot MacGruber (Will Forte) is finally released. His mission: to take down a mysterious villain from his past \u2013 Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth. With the entire world in the crosshairs, MacGruber must race against time to defeat the forces of evil \u2014 only to find that evil\u2026 may be lurking within.<\/p>\n<p>Will Forte serves as writer and executive producer alongside John Solomon and Jorma Taccone who will also direct.
