Australia last year made such payments mandatory while Canada introduced similar legislation last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo far, we have agreements which cover more than 300 national, local and specialist news publications in Germany, Hungary, France, Austria, the Netherlands and Ireland, with many more discussions ongoing,\u201d Sulina Connal, director for news and publishing partnerships, said in blog post. The blog did not say how much publishers were being paid.<\/p>\n<p>Two-thirds of this group are German publishers including Der Spiegel, Die Zeit and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are now announcing the launch of a new tool to make offers to thousands more news publishers, starting in Germany and Hungary, and rolling out to other\u00a0EU\u00a0countries over the coming months,\u201d Connal said in the blogpost.<\/p>\n<p>The tool offers publishers an extended news preview agreement that allows\u00a0Google\u00a0to show snippets and thumbnails for a licensing fee.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
