Their relationship ignited speculation that Musk would ask Dorsey to reassume the CEO post after the deal is expected to close in October.<\/p>\n<p>Dorsey on Tuesday tweeted that he agreed with Musk\u2019s assessment that it was a mistake for Twitter to ban Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Dorsey was CEO when Twitter kicked Trump off the platform following the events of Jan. 6, 2021 \u2014 when the then-president was accused of inciting a mob that ransacked the US Capitol in an effort to disrupt the certification of Joe Biden\u2019s election victory.<\/p>\n<p>Dorsey, who still owns shares of the company, also said he agreed with another user who tweeted that it\u2019s \u201cshort-sighted\u2019 for \u201ca handful of social media companies\u201d to act as \u201cgatekeepers to political discourse.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/elon-twitter-35-1.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Dorsey has endorsed Musk's vision for the company.
