Charges include\u00a0conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, murder, armed robbery and participation in criminal street gang activity.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, updates have been coming at a dizzying rate. From the police raid on Young Thug\u2019s house in the Buckhead area of Atlanta to Gunna\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>rehension, the particulars of the case continue to mount. Most recently, both Young Thug and Gunna were denied bond and will likely remain at Fulton County Jail until the trial. <em>HipHopDX\u00a0<\/em>has put together a brief timeline of events to paint a broader picture of what exactly has transpired over the last three days.<\/p>\n<h1><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Monday_May_9\"><\/span>Monday (May 9)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>The whole ordeal began on Monday (May 9) when <em>WSB-TV<\/em> Atlanta reporter Michael Seiden announced Young Thug had been taken into custody by the Fulton County Sheriff\u2019s Office on RICO charges. The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> outlet obtained footage of Thugger being arrested outside of his Buckhead home as police raided the residence.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">More details on Young Thug&#8217;s arrest from Atlanta station WSB-TV <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/v5MRSZoR3B\">https:\/\/t.co\/v5MRSZoR3B<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NayCwtF3vL\">pic.twitter.com\/NayCwtF3vL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 philip lewis (@Phil_Lewis_) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Phil_Lewis_\/status\/1523868125200068608?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Young Thug\u2019s attorney, Brian Steel,\u00a0emphatically defended his client, saying, \u201cI\u2019ll tell you the response to any allegation; Mr. Williams committed no crime whatsoever, and we will fight to my last drop of blood to clear him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The indictment included several serious allegations against Young Thug. Prosecutors believe he rented a 2014 Infiniti Q50 sedan from Hertz rental car company, which was later used in the commission of the murder of Donovan Thomas, Jr., a rival gang member. They also allege associates of YSL, Christian Eppinger and Antonio Sumlin, got permission from Young Thug to murder YFN Lucci while locked up at Fulton County. In March, Lucci claimed he was stabbed by a fellow inmate with a homemade shank as he was on the phone and said there was a bounty on his head. Prosecutors allege this was an attempt on Lucci\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<h1><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tuesday_May_10\"><\/span>Tuesday (May 10)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>At 11:30 a.m. local time, Young Thug appeared in court where\u00a0Judge Rashida Oliver formally read his charges. Meanwhile, Thug\u2019s father Jeffery Williams Sr. spoke to <em>WSB-TV<\/em> and insisted YSL wasn\u2019t a street gang.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think my son has been unfairly linked to a lot of things,\u201d Williams said. \u201cBut it\u2019s up to us to prove it.\u201d Like Thug\u2019s attorney Brian Steel, he vows to advocate for his son no matter what, adding, \u201cI\u2019m gonna fight for him to the end. I\u2019m his father. That\u2019s what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Misinformation regarding the case quickly started flying around online, with some people jokingly suggesting random artists such as Jack Harlow and Queen Naija should be indicted alongside Thug and Gunna. The joke made it to a press conference with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Harris who was asked by a clueless reporter, \u201cThe indictment has Young Thug and a bunch of other rappers. There was one name I was actually expecting to see here that I didn\u2019t, that\u2019s Jack Harlow. Can you speak to that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harris replied, \u201cWhat I\u2019ll tell you is that as large as this indictment is, I told my team let\u2019s not be sexy, and let\u2019s not overreach. That changed Wednesday morning when he turned himself in to the Fulton County authorities.\u00a0 The 28-year-old rapper faces one count of conspiracy to violate the RICO Act. According to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/justice.fultoncountyga.gov\/PAJailManager\/JailingDetail.aspx?JailingID=1444323\">Fulton County inmate records,<\/a> the alleged offense was committed in 2013. Prosecutors tied Gunna to the case after he was seen wearing YSL chains and sharing photos and videos on social media that allegedly promoted the \u201ccriminal\u201d collective. In RICO cases, individuals can be punished for crimes carried out by the larger criminal organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are definitely many people that are looking at life under this indictment,\u201d Fulton County DA Fani Willis said during a press conference on Tuesday. \u201cThese are serious times, they are serious allegations and it is my opinion that violence in our community deserves maximum penalties.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: Rapper Gunna (Sergio Kitchens) has surrendered to authorities in Fulton County. He is charged with Conspiracy to Violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wsbtv?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@wsbtv<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xYAQZKABF2\">pic.twitter.com\/xYAQZKABF2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michael Seiden (@SeidenWSBTV) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SeidenWSBTV\/status\/1524341767058993153?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 11, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><em>WSB-TV<\/em> also released the 88-page indictment, which mentions the 2015 shooting of Lil Wayne\u2019s tour bus.\u00a0Prosecutors pointed out the man who shot at the bus, Jimmy Winfrey (also known as Peewee Roscoe), has ties to Young Slime Life (YSL). Winfrey is also part of the indictment, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. At the time of the tour bus shooting, both Young Thug and Birdman were listed as co-conspirators, although they were never charged.<\/p>\n<p>More bad news for Young Thug later hit the web. As reported by<em> WSB-TV,<\/em> he was hit with seven additional felonies after the investigators completed the raid at his home. Charges include:\u00a0possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of firearm during commission of a felony, possession of sawed-off-shotgun, sawed-off rifle, machine gun, dangerous weapon or silencer and three charges of unlawful participation in criminal gang activity while employed by\/associated with a criminal street gang.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Young Thug is facing additional felony charges after investigators discover drugs and guns while raiding his Buckhead home. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wsbtv?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@wsbtv<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gWDtmYVGza\">pic.twitter.com\/gWDtmYVGza<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michael Seiden (@SeidenWSBTV) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SeidenWSBTV\/status\/1524429431841951746?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 11, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Young Thug soon appeared in front of Judge Robert Wolf via video from Fulton County Jail for a bond hearing to address the laundry list of felonies. After hearing arguments from prosecutors and Brian Steel, Wolf declined Thug\u2019s bond request after declaring him a flight risk and agreeing with concerns about him committing further felonies.<\/p>\n<p>Steel had argued his client didn\u2019t pose a flight risk and was \u201cfully cooperative during his arrest,\u201d even while being handcuffed in front of his 14-year-old son. He noted Thug was willing to surrender his passport and wear an ankle monitor.<\/p>\n<p>But Assistant District Attorney Damian Smith countered Thugger posed \u201ca clear risk of hindering the administration of justice given that we have not apprehended everyone on the larger indictment,\u201d while pointing to the \u201clarge quantity of drugs and several firearms\u201d seized at his home.<\/p>\n<p>Gunna was denied bond on Wednesday as well. But Gunna\u2019s legal team \u2014 comprised of attorneys Donald F. Samuel, John A. Garland and Kristen W. Novay \u2014 told <em>TMZ,\u00a0<\/em>\u201cMr. Sergio Kitchens, known as Gunna, is innocent. The indictment falsely portrays his music as part of a criminal conspiracy. Mr. Kitchens has been an advocate for his community, and it is our privilege to advocate for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>D.A. Willis said in a press conference at least 10 of the 28 defendants have been arrested and some of them are facing life in prison if convicted. Willis was asked about her decision to use Young Thug and Gunna\u2019s often violent lyrics against them in court. While she recognized the First Amendment is \u201cone of our most precious rights,\u201d she noted free speech doesn\u2019t protect someone from having their own words become evidence in a criminal proceeding. Young Thug and Gunna are expected back in court on May 20.
