It\u2019s a very sensitive situation. I spent my whole day with my baby in the car seat. We were driving for three hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andeisha Carbon-Halstead, 30, of South Bronx, told The Post she and her husband will have to cut back on their grocery bills so their kids can eat.<\/p>\n<p>The mom said she was forced to switch to an organic brand of formula for her 10-month-old girl \u2014 and it\u2019s double the price.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Baby_formula_shortage6-1.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Baby Formula shortage\" class=\"wp-image-22251051\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Baby_formula_shortage6-1.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Baby_formula_shortage6-1.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/Baby_formula_shortage6-1.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>The baby formula shortage is caused by a safety recall from formula manufacturer Abbott over contamination concerns. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Helayne Seidman<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cMoney is going to have to be moved around from other things this month and probably next month,\u201d she said. \u201cWe can\u2019t move the money around for rent or medical expenses so it\u2019s going to have to come out of our food budget.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn order for our kids to eat, my husband and I will have to cut back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The shortage is the result\u00a0the Feb. 17 safety recall by formula maker, Abbott, over contamination concerns and ongoing supply chain disruptions.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>It\u2019s had a crippling effect on New Yorkers \u2013 and parents nationwide \u2013 as retailers limit the amount customers can buy and store shelves remain bare.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors have been urging desperate parents to reach out to food banks, while also warning against watering down formula or turning to online DIY recipes.<\/p>\n<p>Mom-of-three, Erika Thompson, of Wallingford, Connecticut, said it\u2019s become a full-time job trying to track down the hypoallergenic formula her baby girl needs.<\/p>\n<p>She only has one small sample can left, even though friends out of state have been shipping her formula when they find it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> everywhere \u2014 countless towns, stores, Amazon, online,\u201d she said about finding shortages everywhere. \u201cHonestly, it\u2019s heartbreaking. Certain stores have absolutely nothing and now they\u2019re limiting you.
