Despite lip service from previous administrations, nothing significant has been done to help the process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Borelli said he\u2019s been shocked in the past by how much some projects wind up costing, including a bathroom facility he convinced former Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2017 to greenlight construction on at Seaside Wildlife Nature Park in Great Kills. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/seaside-wildlife-nature-park.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"The bathroom in question was constructed at Seaside Wildlife Nature Park, above.\" class=\"wp-image-22271140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/seaside-wildlife-nature-park.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/seaside-wildlife-nature-park.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/seaside-wildlife-nature-park.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>The bathroom in question was constructed at Seaside Wildlife Nature Park, above.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Google Maps<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It was originally slated to cost a whopping $6 million, but could now wind up costing taxpayers even more \u2014 up to $10 million, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nycgovparks.org\/planning-and-building\/capital-project-tracker\/project\/6396\">the Parks Department\u2019s website. <\/a>The comfort station has been designed, but its construction timeline has been pushed back at least a year because of the pandemic with a builder yet to be chosen. <\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, the popular park continues to have no restrooms \u2014 forcing some to resort to extreme measures. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople go home or find a tree,\u201d quipped Borelli. \u201cEither we pay the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vigorish\">vig<\/a> to Park Department for capital costs, or people are stuck pissing behind a tree in perpetuity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Borelli also plans to introduce another bill on Thursday in a bid to create a new 15-person task force whose mission would be to reform the city\u2019s capital construction system. <\/p>\n<p>The task force would include seven council members, five mayoral <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointees and the commissioners of the Buildings Department, Parks Department and Department of Housing Preservation and Development. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/borelli-de-blasio.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Borelli pictured with de Blasio in 2018.\" class=\"wp-image-22271148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/borelli-de-blasio.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/borelli-de-blasio.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/borelli-de-blasio.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Borelli pictured with de Blasio in 2018.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Michael Appleton\/Mayoral Photography Office<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Parks Department has a long history of coming under fire from critics for overspending on bathrooms, including $2 million spent to build a 400-square-foot restroom at Gravesend Park on 18<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue in Brooklyn that opened in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>A Parks Department spokeswoman said the agency \u201clook[s] forward to reviewing\u201d the legislation once it\u2019s introduced.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect spending extends far outside city parks. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, some council members were floored at a budget hearing after learning the FDNY is seeking to build new kitchens at some of its firehouses \u2014 at a cost of $1.2 million apiece.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
