He lifted the lid on a host of topics, including saying the Cavaliers would\u2019ve stayed together longer and won more if he\u2019d been more mature.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I was in the same maturity line and understanding of who I am, and I look back, we definitely, definitely would\u2019ve won more championships, because there would\u2019ve been a better man-to-man understanding about what I\u2019m going through. I didn\u2019t know how to share my emotions,\u201d Irving said. \u201cI didn\u2019t know how to do that. So instead of sharing, I isolated myself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just started pouring myself more into the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> \u2014 I had one of my better seasons but I wasn\u2019t connecting with everybody as much during the championship year. So 2017, it was a different year for us. We went against Golden State, we went against a great team. When you\u2019re not a great team and not clicking on all cylinders and together, you\u2019re easily defeated. In hindsight, he regrets not speaking to LeBron James beforehand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t talk during that time,\u201d Irving admitted. \u201cWhen I look back on what I was going through at that time, I wish I did, because it would\u2019ve been a good understanding of what the future will hold for both of us and we know how much power we both had together. Me and him in the league together running Cleveland, and then being able to put a better team together every single year would\u2019ve definitely been worth it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That will sound familiar to Brooklyn fans, with Irving talked about co-managing the Nets with Durant. He admits he watched James\u2019 famous machinations behind the scenes with interest; that\u2019s probably informed how he goes about his business in Brooklyn now.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s not the only way that time has impacted Irving. He opened up about how, at 24, he sat with Cavs brass and told them he\u2019d prefer a trade, and intended to speak with James about it but the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> got leaked before that conversation took place. Before I was questioning, \u2018Yo, did I do this the right thing? I left one of the best players in the game.\u2019 And I started listening to that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s where the mental health comes into play, because when you start believing what other people say about you, you become a shell of yourself. \u2026 You\u2019re trying to be perfect for others that don\u2019t really give a f\u2013k about whether or not you breathe another day. \u2018You\u2019re just another motherf\u2014er we can just troll or hate on.\u2019 So I had to make the shift. \u2026 I started digging deep into Islam.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went through that span where I was reclaiming my power. I found my tribe, I reclaimed my identity. I stopped listening to everybody else was saying about what an athlete is supposed to be, the image that we\u2019re supposed to be every day, why we\u2019re supposed to be doing the things we\u2019re doing.
