In her practice, she focuses on couples considering divorce. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is one of the top things I hear from women as a complaint \u2014 saying that their husbands are waiting for them to tell them what needs to be done,\u201d Voeller shared in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@corrinthecounselor\/video\/7010078014914563334?is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1\">viral TikTok video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s talk about the difference between \u2018active responsibility\u2019 and \u2018passive responsibility,&#8217;\u201d she began in a post published in 2021, which resurfaced on the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActive responsibility would be you looking around the house for things you could do and taking responsibility for the things that need to happen within the house,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, \u201cpassive responsibility would be being available to help, but waiting for somebody to tell you what needs to be done,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p>Voeller challenges her viewers to question which term would best describe their own behavior. <\/p>\n<p>What women really want is someone \u201cwho is actively responsible for the house and for the children and not waiting for their wife to tell them what to do,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The video, titled \u201cDivision of Household Duties,\u201d has been watched more than 1.5 million times on TikTok, and prompted thousands of comments from viewers there to air their frustrations \u2014 proving that \u201cpassive responsibility\u201d seems to be a major cause of irritation in relationships. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre all men the same?!?! my husband says \u2018just ask, I\u2019ll do anything\u2019 I DON\u2019T WANT TO HAVE TO ASK, WE\u2019RE SUPPOSED TO BE PARTNERS,\u201d one frustrated spouse replied. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPassive responsibility people don\u2019t carry the mental load active responsibility people do,\u201d another added. The top responses garnered about 5,000 likes each.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p>In another <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@corrinthecounselor\/video\/7013857105316744453?is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1\">clip with over 4.2 million views<\/a>, Voeller offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> rule of thumb to prevent arguments from escalating unnecessarily.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStop giving your partner more information, trying to get them to see things the way that you see things. It doesn\u2019t work,\u201d she directed. \u201cSwitch to talking about how you feel versus trying to give them more information.\u201d In the caption, she explained, \u201cIf they aren\u2019t understanding, they don\u2019t need more information, they need DIFFERENT info (read: feelings).\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In a follow-up video, she elaborated that \u201cthey\u2019re trying to illustrate how they feel\u201d \u2014 with \u201creasoning\u201d and \u201clogic\u201d \u2014 but \u201cmissing that crucial step of telling them how they feel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And there\u2019s no need to \u201cjustify\u201d your feelings, said Voeller, because it\u2019s OK to \u201cfeel what you feel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnforcing that boundary helps both of you because instead of falling into that trap \u2026 you\u2019re asking them to validate how you feel, and you set that as an expectation \u2014 versus going around and around,\u201d she explained.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
