services each month. This time we\u2019re checking out what\u2019s new to streaming on Amazon Prime in May 2022 including a new season of The Kids in the Hall, a Tony Scott double feature, new shows, new movies, and more!<\/em><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Amazon_Prime_Pick_of_the_Month_for_May_2022\"><\/span>Amazon Prime Pick of the Month for May 2022<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-371247\" src=\"https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/kids-in-the-hall.jpg\" alt=\"Kids In The Hall\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/kids-in-the-hall.jpg 800w, https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/kids-in-the-hall-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Kids in the Hall<\/em><\/strong> ran for five seasons back in the late 80s\/early 90s before finding success in syndication, but it wasn\u2019t long before the five members of the troupe \u2014 Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson \u2014 went their separate ways. There was a movie (under-<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>reciated), a reunion tour (that I always missed), and a limited series (about murder!), but now they\u2019re back where they belong with a sketch comedy show. Season 1 (of many, we hope) makes it clear that all five remain comedic geniuses with a terrific blend of characters, hilarity, and more than a few dicks. So many dicks! The gang brings back old classics, creates new gems, and will leave you laughing and smiling through the end credits.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"New_Amazon_Originals_for_May_2022\"><\/span>New Amazon Originals for May 2022<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-370201\" src=\"https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Emergency-at-Sundance-2022.jpeg\" alt=\"Emergency At Sundance\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Emergency-at-Sundance-2022.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Emergency-at-Sundance-2022-768x432.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The seven seasons of <em>Bosch<\/em> that ran from 2014 to 2021 should be a blueprint for other adaptations of long-running book characters. Each season adapted one or two of Michael Connelly\u2019s best-selling thrillers, and now that it\u2019s over its lead characters are carrying on with <strong><em>Bosch: Legacy<\/em><\/strong>. The new show follows Harry Bosch\u2019s (a fantastic Titus Welliver) journey as a private detective after retiring from the Los Angeles Police Department, while his daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) struggles her way through being a rookie cop. Welliver is a strong enough actor bringing a great character to life meaning we will absolutely follow him on further adventures.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Sundance Film Festival featured several fantastic movies, and one was snapped up by Amazon for a new Prime Original. <strong><em>Emergency<\/em><\/strong> (premieres May 27th) takes a simple premise and turns it into one of the year\u2019s most intense and stressful watches. Three college students on their way to a party find a passed-out classmate in their house. Seems a simple enough problem, but two of the friends are Black and know an unconscious white woman in their home would only be trouble for them \u2014 so they try to return her. It\u2019s an incredibly suspenseful tale told with wit, smart filmmaking, and strong performances. There\u2019s also something to be said for crafting a movie that\u2019s as entertaining as it is powerful in its themes and commentary.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Westerns_Westerns_Westerns\"><\/span>Westerns, Westerns, Westerns!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-370944\" src=\"https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/open-range.jpg\" alt=\"Open Range\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/open-range.jpg 800w, https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/open-range-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Westerns are a genre (of sorts) that never grows old despite falling in and out of favor with Hollywood and the moviegoing public. Two fantastic examples are hitting Prime this month, and they\u2019d make for an excellent double feature. First up is <strong><em>Tombstone<\/em><\/strong> (1993), George P. Cosmatos\u2019 lively, thrilling retelling of the Wyatt Earp saga complete with a tremendous cast including Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Sam Elliott, Bill Paxton, Powers Boothe, Michael Biehn, Stephen Lang, Dana Delany, Michael Rooker, Billy Bob Thornton, Charlton Heston, Thomas Haden Church, Jason Priestley, Billy Zane, Terry O\u2019Quinn, and more familiar faces. It\u2019s an exciting film, and while the ideal double feature might be with the Kevin Costner-starring <em>Wyatt Earp<\/em> for obvious reasons, we\u2019re instead going with\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Open Range<\/em><\/strong> (2003), baby! That\u2019s right, Kevin Costner\u2019s last directorial effort will always be a pick in these columns because it remains one of the best westerns ever made. Friendship, heroism, honor, violence, and a love and respect for the great open spaces make this an all-time, and both Costner and Robert Duvall do tremendous work as a pair of ranchers trying to move cattle along a dangerous stretch. It\u2019s a gorgeous film, both in its landscapes and themes, and when the violence hits it does so with intensity and artistry. Costner is apparently moving on a new directorial effort, and happily, it\u2019s also a western. Keep \u2019em coming!<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Tony_Scott_Double_Feature\"><\/span>A Tony Scott Double Feature!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-371248\" src=\"https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/enemy-of-the-state.jpg\" alt=\"Enemy Of The State\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/enemy-of-the-state.jpg 800w, https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/enemy-of-the-state-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Tony Scott\u2019s sixteen features include more than a few absolute bangers that could go toe to toe with the best of their respective years. <em>Revenge<\/em> (1990), <em>The Last Boy Scout<\/em> (1991), <em>True Romance<\/em> (1993), <em>Crimson Tide<\/em> (1995), <em>Man on Fire<\/em> (2004), <em>Unstoppable<\/em> (2010)\u2026 the man was a master. Two of the titles are hitting Prime this month, and you owe it to yourself to settle in for four hours of adrenaline, action, and high-energy genre brilliance. First up is <strong><em>Enemy of the State<\/em><\/strong> (1998), an exciting thriller about surveillance and conspiracies starring Will Smith and Gene Hackman (as a character who very well could be continuing on from 1974\u2019s <em>The Conversation<\/em>). Lots of high-tech gear, big set-pieces, and down to the wire suspense beats make for a compelling ride.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Deja Vu<\/em><\/strong> (2006, via freevee) doesn\u2019t get quite the same respect, in part because its plot is a mix of nonsense and janky <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> fiction beats, but it\u2019s no less entertaining for it. Denzel Washington plays an ATF agent working with the team behind a secret government project to stop a terrorist plot, but other, darker secrets come to light during the investigation. Time itself becomes malleable here, and Scott moves us quickly through the exposition to focus on character and action. Paula Patton and Val Kilmer are along for the ride, and it\u2019s the kind of big, explosive action movie that just sucks you in for two hours of serious thrills.
