And at the end of last week, the health department reported a seven-day COVID-19 death average of four \u2014 down from five recorded on May 1 and nowhere near the rates being recorded a year ago. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, many of those being diagnosed as positive in hospitals were admitted for other reasons. Statewide, of 2,497 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently hospitalized, only 47.5% or 1,185 patients have COVID complications or illness, data shows. <\/p>\n<figure to\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/assets\/doh\/downloads\/pdf\/covid\/covid-19-alert-levels.pdf\">color-coded coronavirus alert level guidelines<\/a> Mayor Eric Adams <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/office-of-the-mayor\/news\/108-22\/as-covid-cases-plummet-vaccination-rates-reach-new-heights-mayor-adams-next-phase-of#\/0\">instituted in March<\/a>, the new \u201chigh\u201d classification means that the Health Department advises New Yorkers to \u201cwear a face mask in all indoor public settings and crowded outdoor spaces,\u201d to \u201climit gatherings to small numbers,\u201d and \u201cconsider avoiding higher-risk activities\u201d like large, indoor get-togethers. <\/p>\n<p>The \u201crecommended actions for government\u201d column of the Health Department\u2019s coronavirus criterion also includes imposing a mask mandate in public indoor settings.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" We\u2019re not at that point yet,\u201d he told reporters during an unrelated press conference. \u201cWe\u2019re not at the point of doing anything other than urging New Yorkers \u2014 while you\u2019re indoors in large settings, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> settings \u2014 wear your masks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not overwhelmed,\u201d the mayor added. \u201cThe number of cases in our hospitals are small.
