Music,\u00a0<\/em>he had considered hanging up the microphone for good.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore this album, I thought I had had my last hurrah,\u201d Mike said. \u201cAnd not that I didn\u2019t think I was capable or anything. It\u2019s just that the only ray of hope I had before this record was when I remember <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> put \u2018Rick Flair\u2019 from<em> Pledge Three<\/em> up at their top 50 songs of the year. And that\u2019s what made me say, \u2018I\u2019m not going to quit.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mike said he got reinvigorated after connecting with El-P for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was a shark and blood was in the water,\u201d Mike said. \u201cIt was like, I\u2019m not giving up. You know what I\u2019m saying? After me and El worked together, I\u2019m like, oh no, I\u2019m on their mother fucking neck. They can\u2019t stop this. So it revitalized me. So you all got to deal with me another 10, 15 years. Music<\/em> as the official prequel to Run The Jewels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt started in Patchwork Recordings,\u201d Mike said of RTJ. \u201cAnd Patchwork is a pretty big deal. I\u2019m going to tell you all, this is where Tip and Gucci and Jeezy and fucking everybody\u2019s recorded at Patchwork. And it ain\u2019t cheap.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cSo when Williams Street Records put me in Patchwork with El, we both were like, fucking nice. Because compared to what we were recording in Brooklyn. Brooklyn was like two kids in a bedroom, but a very expensive bedroom. Because again, El built the custom studio in his apartment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The interview with DX comes after Mike linked up with El-P in April for a wild RTJ reunion at Coachella, with the duo lighting up the stage for the first time since October.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was an epic return to the stage,\u201d Mike told <em>HipHopDX<\/em> afterward. \u201cIt was an overwhelming amount of people. It was beautiful just to be back in front of our community and our crowd. And it really helped me to understand, \u2018Man, I have an amazing job that comes out of the imagination of a 9-year-old boy named Mike that said I wanted to be a r<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er.\u2019 And I will never take that job for granted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Revisit\u00a0<em>R.A.P.
