The filings included Meta\u2019s name for use in a \u201conline social networking service for investors allowing financial trades and exchange of digital currency, virtual currency, cryptocurrency, digital and blockchain assets, digitized assets, digital tokens, crypto tokens and utility tokens.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Meta Platforms Inc. (i.e. Facebook) has filed 5 new trademark applications for:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;META PAY&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The filings indicate that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Meta?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Meta<\/a> plans to launch a payment platform called &#8220;META PAY&#8221; for users to exchange old-fashioned regular money and cryptocurrencies.<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Meta?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Meta<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24FB&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$FB<\/a><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Metaverse?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Metaverse<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/W2ObxgAWfl\">pic.twitter.com\/W2ObxgAWfl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Josh Gerben (@JoshGerben) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoshGerben\/status\/1526899765828542477?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 18, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nIn March, Meta filed eight trademark applications with the USPTO related to Metaverse and blockchain <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>. CEO Mark Zuckerberg also said on May 9 that the company had begun testing digital collectibles on Instagram, signaling a move toward adding nonfungible tokens, or NFTs. Meta currently controls several major apps including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Other companies based in the United States including Gatorade producer Stokely-Van Camp, the Air Force, the New York Stock Exchange, and Mastercard have filed similar applications related to possible entries into the Metaverse or otherwise expanding into the crypto space.
