Crime\u2019s  Jesse Weber via Mediaite<\/a>. \u201cIt is majority women,\u201d Weber said. \u201cWhen Heard . . . was testifying, I overheard a lot of people snickering, making snide comments, and laughing . . . They suggested that \u201cmen\u2019s rights activists\u201d are behind it all, possibly because they may believe that men can\u2019t be victims of domestic abuse. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>\u201cNone of us have said that men can\u2019t be victims,\u201d Diaz reassured; however, \u201cit\u2019s still vastly men who are the abusers,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>While women are <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ncadv.org\/STATISTICS#:~:text=1%20in%203%20women%20and,be%20considered%20%22domestic%20violence.%22&amp;text=1%20in%207%20women%20and,injured%20by%20an%20intimate%20partner.\">reportedly more often victimized<\/a> by men, critics have noted that most data on intimate partner violence relies on self-reporting. And the stigma surrounding male victims of partner abuse may skew statistics.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the women told Insider that the case between Depp and Heard is close to their hearts, having similar abuses in their own lives.
