Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en when a white dwarf star consumes another.<\/p>\n<p>Scientists now think Egypt\u2019s Hypatia stone\u00a0could be evidence of one of these supernovas that happened billions of years ago.<\/p>\n<p>It was discovered in the Egyptian desert in 1996.<\/p>\n<p>A new study of its chemical makeup suggests it could have formed from bits of dust and gas surrounding a supernova.<\/p>\n<p>It would take billions of years for dust and gas to fuse together and form a space rock.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uj.ac.za\/news\/extraterrestrial-stone-brings-first-supernova-clues-to-earth\/\">Geochemist Jan Kramers<\/a>\u00a0from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa said: \u201cIn a sense, we could say, we have caught a supernova Ia explosion in the act, because the gas atoms from the explosion were caught in the surrounding dust cloud, which eventually formed Hypatia\u2019s parent body.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hypatia would have that shot around the universe until it impacted with Earth\u2019s atmosphere and burned up, falling as a small stone over Egypt.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/alien_stone.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Strange &quot;alien stone&quot;
