Kohl\u2019s said that was too low, and adopted a so-called poison pill to prevent activist investors from acquiring more than 10% of its shares.<\/p>\n<p>Now, enthusiasm for the deal has likely been extinguished, sources told The Post, in part because of a lack of transparency from Kohl\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Kohl\u2019s won a proxy fight to replace 10 of its directors. But they might not have affirmed the board had they known about the company\u2019s most recent performance, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasically the company knew their results stunk and they didn\u2019t tell anyone and they got the shareholder vote for their board of directors,\u201d said the source close to the sales process.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company has said that there have been at least 25 interested parties. But they might not have affirmed the board had they known about the company\u2019s most recent performance, sources said.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kohl\u2019s chief executive, Michelle Gass said on Thursday that the company is \u201cpleased with the number of parties who recognize the value of our business and plan.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The retail chain only reluctantly agreed to initiate a sales process after activist investor Macellum Advisors first pushed the company to do so in January.\u00a0But sources tell The Post the Wisconsin-based company may be privately rooting for an outcome in which bidders fade away \u2013 despite the public image management has put forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Still, others say a sale is still viable but at a greater discount.<\/p>\n<p>Potential buyers might lower their bids but the company is an attractive acquisition \u2014 including a valuable real estate portfolio \u2014 that one lousy quarter doesn\u2019t undo, another source said.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, shares of Kohl\u2019s closed at $45.04 \u2014 well off its $63.11 price just two months ago. <\/p>\n<p>Kohl\u2019s did not im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely respond for comment.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
