We\u2019re talking about \u201cPhone as a key,\u201d which lets owners open and use the vehicle without the keyfob.<\/p>\n<p>On select modern vehicles, from Tesla to the Mustang Mach-E, owners can opt to use their smartphone as a digital car key. That way, all you have to do is walk up to the F-150 Lightning, and as long as your phone is in your pocket and you have the FordPass <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>, it\u2019ll unlock your car automatically.<\/p>\n<p>The feature has several other benefits, including starting the truck, opening the tailgate, and doing other tasks, but it\u2019s not without cons or potential issues.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Lightning owners or reservation holders <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lightningowners.com\/threads\/no-paak-at-launch.1094\/\">started receiving emails<\/a> that \u201cPhone as a key\u201d for the F-150 Lightning will not ship with the truck. The feature faces a delay, cannot be enabled and should arrive through a software update later this year.<\/p>\n<p>While Ford\u2019s communications didn\u2019t explain why the feature is facing a delay, it\u2019s likely due to security and vulnerabilities. We\u2019ve seen situations of Tesla vehicles getting hacked through this feature, and in some cases, hackers could enable the summon feature and make the car drive away.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve heard of similar potential issues with Ford\u2019s phone as a key feature, plus the service already has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.macheforum.com\/site\/threads\/phone-as-key-issues.3159\/\">a few problems<\/a>, according to Mustang Mach-E owners. That said, Ford didn\u2019t specifically mention any issues, vulnerabilities, or the potential for hacks.
