\n President Trump said Tuesday he was \u201csurprised\u201d that Democratic presidential foe Joe Biden picked Kamala Harris for his running mate \u2014 ripping her as a lying, \u201cnasty\u201d pro-tax pol who was near the bottom of primary-race polls.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was my No. 1 draft pick,\u201d Trump told reporters at a White House press conference when asked how he felt about Harris\u2019 selection.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was surprised\u201d that Biden picked her \u201cbecause she did so poorly\u201d in the primary race,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

The president also blasted the California senator for being \u201cextraordinarily nasty\u201d to US Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his Senate confirmation hearings \u2014 and said no one is safe from her viciousness, even Biden.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought she was the meanest, most horrible, most disrespectful of anyone in the Senate,\u201d he said, referring to Kavanaugh\u2019s hearings.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just a horrible thing the way she treated now-Justice Kavanaugh, and I won\u2019t forget that soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Harris\u2019s treatment of Biden while they were fighting for the Democratic Party\u2019s presidential nomination, Trump added, \u201cShe was probably nastier than Pocahontas to Joe Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPocahontas\u201d is the nickname Trump gave for former Democratic presidential contender and US Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who has boasted she is part Native American, even though she has been unable to prove it to any substantial degree.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Harris] was very, very nasty\u2026. to Joe Biden. She was very disrespectful to Joe Biden,\u201d Trump said. \u201cShe said things during the debates\u2026 that were horrible about \u2018Sleepy Joe,\u2019 and I would think he wouldn\u2019t have picked [her].\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, \u201cI think Joe knows even less than she does,\u201d Trump said of Harris.<\/p>\n

Asked about Harris\u2019s famous claim that she smoked pot in college while listening to Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg \u2014 even though the rapp<\/a>ers didn\u2019t put out their music till years later \u2014 the president said, \u201cShe lied, she said things that were untrue.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s very big into raising taxes. \u2026 She is against fracking,\u201d he added. \u201cShe\u2019s in favor of social<\/a>ized medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump spent the first part of the press conference decrying violent anti-police, anti-racism protests continuing to rage in \u201cDemocratic cities\u201d across the nation \u2014 calling the rallies \u201creally the Democratic road map for America.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
