This week has been a big one in the EU, with the European Commission going all-in on renewable energy and, in particular,solar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In March 2022, following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the European Union committed to entirely phase out its dependency on Russian gas, oil, and coal imports. It asked the European Commission to develop a plan on how to do so by the end of May 2022. The <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/ip_22_1511\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">REPowerEU plan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the result.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"An_intensive_commitment_to_renewables\"><\/span><strong>An intensive commitment to renewables<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>                <iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/embed\/iframe\/gpmn9xkc7o?videoFoam=true&amp;autoPlay=true\" title=\"\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" class=\"wistia_embed\" name=\"wistia_embed\" allowfullscreen=\"\" msallowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plan commits to partnerships with renewable businesses and a rapid rollout of solar and wind energy projects, combined with renewable hydrogen deployment in the short term. This includes <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roval for the first EU-wide hydrogen projects by the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, a hydrogen accelerator is planned to build 17.5 gigawatts (GW) of electrolyzers. This would fuel the EU industry with 10 million tonnes of renewable hydrogen by 2025. Also in development is a modern regulatory framework for hydrogen.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Going_all-in_on_a_solar-powered_future\"><\/span><strong>Going all-in on a significant commitment is to solar energy, with a 28-page dedicated <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/energy.ec.europa.eu\/communication-eu-solar-strategy-com2022149_en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EU Solar Strategy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> setting out the details.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simply put, Europe is going ALL in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kadri Simson, the EU Energy Commissioner, told the press at public launch of the plan:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By 2030, the share of wind energy in power production capacities will double from the current 33% to 67%. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Solar energy will be the biggest source of electricity in the EU by then, with more than half of it coming from rooftops.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_European_Solar_Rooftops_Initiative\"><\/span><strong>The European Solar Rooftops compulsory for all new public and commercial buildings with usable floor areas larger than 250 square meters by 2026.\u00a0 Current builds must install solar panels by 2027, and residential buildings by 2029.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even better, the process will be expedited, with rooftop solar permits to be granted within three months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s also a commitment to <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/news.energysage.com\/agrivoltaics-what-is-it-and-can-it-benefit-your-farm\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">agrivoltaics<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (solar energy in farming), floating solar initiatives, and repurposing abandoned industrial or commercial setups and land for solar projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\"
